<p>Open until filled-</p> <p>The Center for Applied Textile Technology is seeking a skilled electromechanical Maintenance Technician/Millwright to support our cutting-edge polymer, fiber, and textile product and process development center. Reporting directly to the Vice President-Fiber Innovation and Facilities Development, this position plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of our state-of-the-art facility.</p> <ul> <li>Installation, modification, and maintenance of industrial manufacturing machinery. </li><li>Repairing and replacing broken or worn mechanical parts as necessary. </li><li>Conducting light machining, fabrication, and welding. </li><li>Rigging, moving, setting, aligning, and leveling heavy machinery. </li><li>Reading and understanding technical manuals, drawings, and other documentation. </li><li>Performing preventive maintenance, including filling oil, greasing, and cleaning moving parts. </li><li>Adjusting and calibrating equipment and machinery to optimal specifications. </li><li>Detecting and testing for both major and minor problems through basic diagnostic tests. </li><li>Installing and maintaining power transmission systems, including bearings, drive shafts, gears, pulleys, drive couplers, and motors. </li><li>Installing and maintaining pneumatic systems, including compressors, valves, filters, actuators, and regulators. </li><li>Basic troubleshooting of motor control and industrial control systems. </li><li>Assisting electricians in wiring and hanging conduit. </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li>Good safety skills with the ability to recognize and anticipate potential hazards on large processing equipment. </li><li>Hands-on experience in industrial environments, encompassing plumbing, mechanical, and fabrication tasks. </li><li>Adherence to all safety practices, including proper use of PPE and following lockout/tagout procedures. </li><li>Aptitude and high-level skill in using handheld power tools and hand tools. </li><li>Ability to work in both Metric and SAE units. </li><li>Basic organizational skills, maintaining neat and orderly storage of tools and spare parts. </li><li>Experience or ability to be trained on both sit-down and stand-up forklifts. </li><li>Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality. </li><li>Cross-training on multiple tasks is required. </li><li>Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. </li><li>Flexibility to adapt to sudden changes in daily priorities. </li><li>Possession of an NC driver's license. </li><li>Previous experience with Chemical, Fiber, or Textile processing equipment is a plus. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Formal Training in Mechatronics, or other relevant industrial technology </li><li>High school diploma or HSE/GED required. </li><li>At least five years' experience in a production or manufacturing environment installing commissioning or maintaining machinery </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds. </li><li>Exposure to typical elements associated with a textile manufacturing and lab environment. </li><li>Work environment can be stressful at times in dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines. </li><li>In addition to regular office hours, position sometimes requires overtime and/or evening hours. </li></ul>
