International Elementary Magnet School</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Principal/Director or Designee</p> <p>PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: Principal/Director or Designee</p> <p>POSITION OVERVIEW: The TESOL/MLL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages/Multi-Lingual Learners) Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction to students who are English language learners (ELLs). This role involves helping students acquire the English language skills necessary for academic success and social integration. The TESOL/MLL Teacher will work with students to improve their reading, writing, speaking, and listening abilities in English, in alignment with state and district standards.</p> <p>TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Deliver engaging and effective ESL instruction that meets the academic needs of diverse learners. </li><li>Assess students' English language proficiency and monitor their academic progress. </li><li>Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure integrated support for ELLs across all subject areas. </li><li>Adapt lessons and teaching methods to cater to the varying language levels and learning styles of students. </li><li>Provide individualized support to students as needed, ensuring access to the curriculum and fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment. </li><li>Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and performance. </li><li>Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and involve them in the learning process. </li><li>Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in TESOL/MLL instruction. </li><li>Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or designee. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Valid State of Connecticut Certification (111) </li><li>Strong commitment to helping students achieve language proficiency and academic success. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Bilingual </li></ul> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:</p> <ul> <li>Part-time </li></ul> <p>New London Public School District is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.</p> <p>Candidates from diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply.</p>
