Ideal candidates will be highly motivated and eager to apply their skills safely and efficiently while delivering excellent customer service.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Perform various duties related to landfill, recycling, and diversion operations, including but not limited to hauling dirt to cover garbage and other waste material; assisting with scale house operations as needed, directing dumping; monitoring for unacceptable waste; building roads to new waste areas, maintaining roads for public travel; constructing and moving fences to contain litter, aiding with litter collection, composting, and recycling. </li><li>Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections by checking the condition of equipment, including oil and fluid levels, brakes, and lights. Clean and maintain landfill equipment, and fill and grease vehicles. </li><li>Operate various heavy equipment and tools used in solid waste disposal, including scrapers, wheel loaders, compactors, dozers, and balers, with precision, caution, and accuracy. </li><li>Work safely at all times, especially when operating large vehicles and equipment. </li><li>Maintain simple records and logs; complete reports as necessary. </li><li>Keep waste compacted and covered, as specified in the landfill permit. </li><li>May be required to assist the collections side of the Solid Waste Division. </li><li>Perform other duties and responsibilities as required. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications and Requirements:</p> <p>A combination of the following experience and training would be qualifying.</p> <ul> <li>Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (Class B minimum) is highly preferred, but at a minimum, the ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 6 months. The City will provide training to obtain the CDL. </li><li>Possession of or ability to obtain a landfill operator's certification. </li><li>Some experience operating heavy equipment. </li><li>Occasional weekends, holidays, and overtime might be required. </li></ul> <p>Special Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to sit, stand, kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach, crawl, twist, climb, and lift up to 75 pounds. </li><li>Exposure to cold, dust, heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, confining workspace, and mechanical hazards. </li><li>Ability to visit various sites and locations. </li><li>Ability to develop and sustain effective working relationships. </li></ul> <p>Why Join Our Team?</p> <p>The City of Laramie provides a comprehensive benefits package to promote employee well-being and work-life balance.
