<p>This position is responsible for providing technical application assistance and clarification for customers, Sales and Customer Relations personnel. Primary tasks include:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Product selection for customer applications</p> </li><li> <p>Project management for product modifications or new assemblies</p> </li><li> <p>Testing and troubleshooting customer applications</p> </li></ol> <p>The essential functions of this job require the person, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform the following:</p> <ul> <li>Serve as the primary technical communication link with customers to ensure customer needs are met. </li><li>Review customer specifications to assist the customer and Customer Relations in defining the proper air-moving device for specific applications. </li><li>Provide application assistance to Sales personnel and customers. </li><li>Provide technical clarification of communications and documentation for or to our factories and regional sales offices, distributors, Customer Relations and customers. </li><li>Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of all products sold by ebm-papst Inc. </li><li>Visit customers and suppliers as required - typical travel is about 2 weeks per year. </li><li>Conduct technical discussions and trainings with customers, Sales personnel, Customer Relations and other ebm-papst personnel. </li><li>Assist customers, Sales personnel and Customer Relations in cross-referencing competitor products to products sold by ebm-papst. </li><li>Provide technical support for assigned territories to Management, Sales personnel and the sales territories. </li><li>Manage assigned projects as the key technical person. Work with the respective Sales and Customer Relations personnel concerning commercial issues. Work with Manufacturing, R&D, and Quality personnel concerning design and technical issues. </li><li>Be capable with Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Office software. Be capable of learning additional GUI-based software. </li><li>Perform all other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Experienced candidates would also be expected to:</p> <ul> <li>Create and update training and process documentation. </li><li>Present trainings to newer individuals and/or the entire department. </li><li>Research and write technical papers on one or more assigned technical topics (i.e. "bearing lifetime" or "electrical harmonics") </li></ul> <p>Recommended Qualifications and Experience: An excellent candidate will exhibit the following:</p> <ul> <li>Good communication skills via phone, email, and in person. </li><li>Good organization skills to stay on top of multiple projects at a time. </li><li>Good project management skills to keep a team on track. </li><li>Capability with Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Office software. Capability of learning additional GUI-based software. </li><li>Fluency in English. Multilingual a plus, especially in Spanish, Portuguese, French, and/or German. </li><li>Some combination of technical experience and/or education: </li></ul> <p>o 4+ years of mechanical and/or electrical related experience,</p> <p>o Bachelor's degree in engineering, or</p> <p>o Some combination of higher education and experience.</p> <p>An experienced candidate should also:</p> <ul> <li>Have a history of strong, on-time delivery of technical and project information. </li><li>Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. </li><li>Ability to manage multiple individual and collaborative projects simultaneously. </li><li>At least 4.5 years as an Applications Engineer or similar. </li></ul> <p>All Employees are expected to:</p> <ul> <li>Follow the Employee Handbook policies and procedures and uphold organizational values. </li><li>Contribute to building a positive work environment. </li><li>Report for work consistently and on time. </li><li>Report to supervision conditions or practices that are unsafe to ebm-papst and its employees. </li></ul>
