<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Reporting to the Technician Coordinator of the School of Art and Design, the Technologist C ensures standard safety regulations are followed in the fabrication studios, enforces established safety practices, and assists with specialized software and equipment in designated areas.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Oversee open labs to ensure that students operate equipment safely and follow best practices. </li><li>Assist students with the proper use of equipment and materials in accordance with safety requirements. </li><li>Assist with exhibition installation of 2D and 3D works, including the operation of a scissor lift (training provided upon hire). </li><li>Assist with the operation of the vinyl printer/cutter (training provided upon hire). </li><li>Work with departmental technicians to maintain studios and shops to ensure optimal functionality. </li><li>Maintain a working knowledge of the current safety and compliance standards and practices. </li><li>Work with the department of Environmental Health and Safety to ensure that hazardous chemicals and fumes are properly handled, and maintain a current Safety Data Sheet for chemicals and hazardous materials. </li><li>Operate the equipment management software to facilitate student and faculty equipment usage. </li><li>Maintain, troubleshoot and update the equipment management software as needed. </li><li>Administer tool checkout, inventory, and organization, including data entry and maintaining accurate eligibility records. </li><li>Work closely with the Tech Coordinator on administrative tasks. </li></ul> <p>The preceding description is not designed to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilities required of the position; other duties may be assigned consistent with the classification of the position.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Associate's degree in Arts, Fabrication, or a related field. </li><li>3 years experience in photography and working knowledge of related equipment. </li><li>Knowledge of relevant machines, equipment, tools, and basic health and safety protocols specific to fabrication studios. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Arts, Fabrication, or a related field preferred. </li><li>5+ years experience in fabrication or a related role preferred. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of machines, equipment and tools. </li><li>Knowledge of processes and principles for providing customer services. </li><li>Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. </li><li>Conscientious, self-motivated, resourceful, flexible, and punctual. </li><li>Knowledge of basic health and safety protocols and policies. </li><li>Professional demeanor and experience in cultivating effective and collaborative working relationships. </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communications skills. </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills with both faculty and student populations. </li><li>Excellent organization, prioritization, self-motivation, and problem resolution skills. </li><li>Ability to accurately communicate instructions, methods and techniques. </li><li>Ability to solve problems, work independently, and excel in a high-performance team. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively, remain organized, and precisely follow instructions under pressure. </li><li>Ability to recognize when there is a problem. </li><li>Ability to shift back and forth between two or more activities or sources of information. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Please note all offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of the background check process.</p> <p>Salary</p> <p>Salary: $62,628.35 per year</p> <p>The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) dictates the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment. This position will require the wear of common protective or safety equipment.
