The Commission's Fish and Wildlife Education Division is looking for a Wetland Education Coordinator to join our team for a fulltime 3-year termed position. The primary focus of this position will be on the support, development and facilitation of wetland and aquatic education programming.</p> <p>JOB DUTIES: Qualified individuals will work closely with the Aquatic Ecology Education Specialist to plan, promote, and facilitate wetland and aquatic education programs for educators, students, and local communities throughout Nebraska. A successful candidate will build and maintain relationships with partners such as schools, conservation organizations and community institutions to implement wetland experiences that incorporate community science, outdoor recreation, and Nebraska's unique natural resources. Coordination, communication and attention to detail when planning events like field trips, teacher workshops and presentations are a must. Duties will also include providing feedback on and assisting with the creation of aquatic education resources such as lesson plans and videos. This position may also help care for and educate with animals including snakes, turtles, and frogs. Other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Requirements / Qualifications:</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications: At least six months experience working in a recreational area, scenic attraction, hospitality, historical, retail or customer service setting, agricultural setting, or related coursework/training. Other: Valid driver's license is required.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:</p> <p>We are seeking candidates with:</p> <p>Knowledge of: Nebraska science standards especially for grades 6-12; Nebraska plant and wildlife species, natural resources, and how to relate them in both a classroom or public setting; outdoor recreation activities like kayaking, hiking, birding and more; foundational science and ecological principles; animal care; safe work procedures; group management; best practices of environmental education and communication principles.</p> <p>Skills in: Educating people of all levels and interests; teaching through inquiry; coordinating field trips and community events; communicating clearly with people from a variety of backgrounds through varied platforms both in person and online; writing lesson plans; entry level outdoor recreation practices such as kayaking; administration of first aid and CPR preferred; bilingual preferred.</p> <p>Ability to: Communicate and effectively build relationships with students, teachers, volunteers, co-workers and partners; understand and follow instructions; maintain organized and timely coordination habits; ability to work and make decisions independently and as part of a team; ability to maintain budgets; use feedback to make improvements; recognize safety hazards and take steps to mitigate risk; apply agency policies pertinent to assigned work; bend, stoop, climb, lift and carry up to 40 lbs.; work outdoors; remain standing and/or walking in various weather conditions for long periods of time.</p> <p>Benefits</p> <p>We offer a comprehensive package of pay, benefits, paid time off, retirement and professional development opportunities to help you get the most out of your career and life.
