Learn more about us at worcester.edu/about .</p> <p>Job Description: TITLE: Supplemental Instruction Leader: STEM Center DEPARTMENT: Academic Success Center / STEM Department SUPERVISOR/SSTA APPROVER: Julie Connor SCHEDULE: Variable at 10 hours/week POSITION LEVEL: Non-Supervisory</p> <p>General Statement of Duties</p> <p>The Supplemental Instruction leader for the STEM Center program will provide academic assistance to students registered in STEM courses at Worcester State. They will work closely with the faculty teaching the course and students enrolled to improve their science skills, including but not limited to writing, reading, and critical thinking.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Provide support to specific students enrolled in a particular section.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as a role model for first-year students by displaying the responsibility and maturity of a college student.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicating with relevant faculty for specific courses to know course expectations, relevant assignments, and course materials.</p> </li><li> <p>Attending all relevant training and workshops related to the STEM program.</p> </li><li> <p>Meet with students individually or in small groups to provide academic support.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist students with an understanding of scientific concepts, theories, and principles.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide feedback on assignments and help students understand and implement instructor feedback.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure appropriate documentation of student performance.</p> </li></ol> <p>Requirements: Required Qualifications:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Strong Interpersonal and communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong academic background in Science or a related field.</p> </li><li> <p>Previous tutoring, mentoring, or teaching experience preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent editing, oral and written communication.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain a reliable attendance record.</p> </li><li> <p>Basic Computer skills, including general knowledge of all Microsoft Office.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be free of any current/pending judicial action by the University.</p> </li><li> <p>Have a reference from an instructor that taught that course.</p> </li></ol> <p>Additional Information: Worcester State University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer which seeks to reflect the diversity of its community.</p> <ul> <li>This position is available for WSU students only* </li></ul> <p>Hourly Rate: $15.00</p> <p>Application Instructions: Students must apply online.</p> <ul> <li>This position is for WSU students only.* </li></ul>
