<p>Scheduled Hours</p> <p>40</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>Join WashU's brand-new, state-of-the-art fluoroscopy suite in Sunset Hills -a one-of-a-kind opportunity to define the future of musculoskeletal (MSK) procedural imaging. You'll lead the PM&R (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation) Spine & Joint Injection Suite, combining advanced fluoroscopy and C-arm expertise with strategic team leadership to deliver exceptional patient care and procedural efficiency.</p> <p>Leads daily operations of the PM&R Spine and Joint Injection Suite, ensuring efficient and effective procedural workflows. Performs advanced fluoroscopy procedures and provides direct support for musculoskeletal imaging services. Manages and trains technologists, oversees staff competency and performance, and ensures adherence to established clinical protocols. Responsibilities include oversight of equipment performance and maintenance, troubleshooting imaging issues, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and quality control measures. Accountable for maintaining operational efficiency, supporting staff development, and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality fluoroscopic imaging services.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Primary Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Leads daily operations of the PM&R Spine & Joint Injection Suite, ensuring smooth workflow, efficient scheduling, and high-quality imaging</p> </li><li> <p>Performs advanced fluoroscopy/C-arm imaging for spine and joint procedures, including epidural, facet, sacroiliac, and peripheral joint injections</p> </li><li> <p>Mentors, trains, and guides technologists in procedural technique, imaging best practices, patient safety, and radiation safety compliance</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates with PM&R physicians, nurses, and staff to optimize procedural efficiency, patient throughput, and overall care quality</p> </li><li> <p>Oversees equipment maintenance, quality control, and troubleshooting for all imaging systems, including C-arm, fluoroscopy units, and digital radiography</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures adherence to radiation safety, sterile technique, and infection control standards for all procedures</p> </li><li> <p>Manages procedural documentation, image uploads, and accurate charge entry in PACS/RIS/EHR systems</p> </li><li> <p>Leads quality improvement initiatives by monitoring outcomes, identifying workflow efficiencies, and implementing best practices in MSK imaging</p> </li><li> <p>Supports patient education, comfort, and overall experience during procedures, including pre-procedure preparation and post-procedure guidance</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates staffing, workflow planning, and procedural scheduling to maximize suite efficiency and staff performance</p> </li><li> <p>Serves as a liaison with equipment vendors, service providers, and institutional teams to maintain operational excellence and timely equipment upgrades</p> </li><li> <p>Develops and implements staff training programs, onboarding protocols, and continuing education to maintain high clinical standards</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in research, clinical trials, and departmental initiatives as applicable, supporting innovation in MSK procedural imaging</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>Job Location/Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li> <p>Normal clinical environment with exposure to ionizing radiation, bodily fluids, and electrical hazards, may lift, position, push and/or transfer patients at times and have some pressure caused by adherence to patient examination schedules.</p> </li><li> <p>Fast-paced interventional procedural setting, requiring coordination with physicians, nurses, technologists, and support staff. Exposure to blood-borne pathogens, sterile procedural equipment, and direct patient care.</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Effort:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to stand for extended periods, assist with patient positioning, and operate/handle C-arm equipment during procedures. May support procedural scheduling and perform limited administrative tasks as needed. Must be able to wear a lead vest for multiple hours throughout the day during fluoroscopy procedures. </li></ul> <p>Equipment:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Fluoroscopy and C-arm imaging systems used for spine and joint MSK procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>X-ray and digital radiography equipment for procedural imaging.</p> </li><li> <p>Sterile procedural trays, instruments, and positioning aids for interventional procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>PACS, RIS, and EHR systems for image acquisition, documentation, and storage.</p> </li><li> <p>Radiation monitoring devices and personal protective equipment (lead aprons, shields, dosimeters).</p> </li><li> <p>Ancillary procedural equipment, including contrast injectors or specialty positioning tools for MSK spine and joint injections.</p> </li></ul> <p>The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to this classification.
