<p>What We're Looking For:</p> <p>The Survey Crew Chief plays a key leadership role in delivering high-quality surveying services by overseeing field operations and guiding team members in the execution of accurate, efficient surveys. In this position, you will support and direct daily field activities, including briefing and debriefing crews, processing field notes and data, retracing or surveying property boundaries, and drafting maps and reports. Working with minimal supervision, you will help prepare final surveys for review and approval by a Registered Land Surveyor. This role is ideal for a skilled survey technician ready to step into a leadership capacity mentoring others, ensuring quality control, and contributing to the successful delivery of surveying projects.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Assist in performing a subset of tasks for project planning including pricing, planning, estimation, and coordination of tasks for a project. </li><li>Contact and communicate with Clients, Project Managers, Surveyors, Geomaticist, Managers, and other stakeholders providing accurate data. </li><li>Perform field surveying for various projects and ensure accuracy of data collected by the field crew. </li><li>Perform moderately complex field calculations (such as calculating horizontal and vertical geometry of roadways or for construction stake outs), determine property boundaries, retrace and survey boundary lines. </li><li>Prepare finished grade sheets, topographic maps, records of survey, corner records, and other survey reports. </li><li>Review field data, reports, and maps to ensure proper QA techniques, provide feedback and coaching back to project team. </li><li>Conduct site visits ensuring proper QC standards are followed. </li><li>Research existing record information, including record maps, plans, deeds, easements, and right-of-way documents, and ensure maintenance of field data records. </li></ul> <p>Education & Experience Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Two-year degree in Engineering Technology, Computer Drafting, Surveying, or equivalent with 7 years of relevant experience, or other relevant combination of education and/or experience </li><li>Skilled in the use of maintenance of survey instruments (GPS, robotics, data collectors, level rods, etc.) </li><li>Experienced in all aspects of land surveying including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, etc. with the ability to read and interpret various types of construction and property documents </li><li>Ability to effectively instruct, direct, and lead others in the field </li><li>Ability to read and interpret plats, deeds, easements, and plans </li><li>Knowledge of field surveying practices and procedures; building knowledge of office surveying practices and procedures </li><li>Valid driver's license and sufficient driving record </li><li>Ability to work varying schedules </li><li>Ability to travel at times and overnight </li></ul> <p>Daily work environment includes working out of doors and in rough terrain. Individuals will walk, sit, and stand while operating various equipment, tools, and machinery. Individuals may need to carry, push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs.
