<p>The Downtown Family YMCA opened its doors in 1964 and has since been a landmark in the Downtown Boise area. The facility has a full court basketball gym, a large cardio fitness center, multiple strength training systems and rooms, racquetball courts, a climbing wall, five fitness studios, three swimming pools, and multiple youth programming areas.</p> <p>The STEM Youth Instructor leads hands-on, interactive lessons for children and teens in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about introducing young learners to STEM concepts in a fun, educational, and approachable way. This role is perfect for individuals who love working with youth and have a desire to inspire the next generation of innovators, problem solvers, and critical thinkers.</p> <p>Come be a part of a NEW and EXCITING YOUTH PROGRAM here at the Downtown Boise YMCA!</p> <p>Schedule:</p> <p>This is a part-time position averaging 2-4 hours weekly. Schedule requirements are Monday through Friday 11:00am - noon. Pay: $14.35 - $26.91 per class rate. Pay based on experience, class length and age group.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Lead engaging, hands-on STEM activities and lessons that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking. </li><li>Develop and deliver age-appropriate lessons and projects in areas such as robotics, coding, chemistry, physics, engineering, and mathematics. </li><li>Guide students through STEM projects, ensuring they understand the underlying concepts while having fun and building practical skills. </li><li>Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating learning environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions and explore new ideas. </li><li>Create a safe and supportive atmosphere for students to collaborate, experiment, and explore STEM topics. </li><li>Monitor and assess students' understanding of STEM concepts and provide individualized support when needed. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent required. </li><li>Previous experience working with children or teaching in an educational setting, preferably in STEM fields. </li><li>Strong knowledge of STEM subjects and a passion for sharing that knowledge with students. </li><li>Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners. </li><li>Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills. </li></ul> <p>Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>Employees will receive a FREE individual YMCA Membership. </li><li>Ability to utilize FREE childcare when teaching classes - up to 2 hours a day. </li></ul> <p>Welcoming and Inclusion:</p> <p>At the Y, we welcome everyone whose behavior adheres to our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
