Yes</p> <p>County Albany</p> <p>Street Address 110 State Street</p> <p>City Albany</p> <p>StateNY</p> <p>Zip Code12236</p> <p>Duties Description This position resides on the Internet Services Administration team in the bureau of Software Platforms within the Chief Information Office.</p> <ul> <li>Create and maintain system documentation and diagram the infrastructure of entire systems. </li><li>Help troubleshoot problems within the Office of the State Comptroller (OSC) infrastructure within the Internet Services Administration (ISA) unit and collaboratively with other Chief Information Office (CIO) units. </li><li>Support and maintain processes developed to automate, deploy, and/or support services offered by ISA. </li><li>Monitor and complete routine health checks of ISA supported software. </li><li>Administer software user management for ISA supported applications. </li><li>Apply security fixes and feature packs at regularly scheduled intervals for all ISA supported software. </li><li>Create and manage detailed plans used for software upgrades. </li><li>Help manage ISA software initiatives and policies. </li><li>Oversee software design, installation, configuration, and performance of new software installations as well as upgrades to current systems. </li><li>Help to create, modify, and maintain scripts as well as plan and coordinate the scheduling of these scripts. </li><li>Provide on-call support for nightly batch processing. </li><li>Ensure nightly batch processing schedules are reviewed. </li><li>Coordinate problem resolution between teams. </li><li>Collaborate and communicate with staff and teams across the organization to ensure OSC objectives and customer needs are adequately addressed. </li><li>Communicate to management the status of assignments and projects using standard reporting methodologies to ensure they are informed of issues, resolutions, significant decisions, pending matters, and conflicting priorities. </li><li>Make recommendations to management regarding organizational initiatives. </li><li>Plan and supervise the activities of staff to ensure ISA duties are performed timely and accurately according to division goals and established priorities. </li><li>Direct and supervise staff by communicating objectives and expectations, allocating resources, assigning tasks and projects, reviewing progress and deliverables, providing constructive feedback, etc. </li><li>Perform all administrative duties including, but not limited to, developing and completing comprehensive performance programs and evaluations, review timecards, telecommuting journals, etc. </li><li>Develop training plans and provide staff with training opportunities appropriate to their level of expertise including on-the-job training, vendor sponsored events, and formal training. </li><li>Oversee the development of staff through knowledge transfer across the team. </li><li>Lead staff to promote collaboration within the organization. </li><li>Handle personnel and performance issues timely and with discretion. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications Do you want a career with a purpose that provides work/life balance? Demonstrated experience in operating systems, including but not limited to:</p> <p>o AIX</p> <p>o Linux</p> <p>o Redhat</p> <p>o Windows</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated experience installing and upgrading enterprise application server software. </li><li>Demonstrated experience in UNIX shell scripting, PHP, PERL, or JavaScript. </li><li>Demonstrated experience in analysis and design, and the ability to interact with both technical and business staff including vendors. This experience should include, but not be limited to: </li></ul> <p>o Participating and/or facilitating in the design, technical analysis, and implementation of automated systems.</p> <p>o Translating business requirements into technical specifications including flowcharts and technical diagrams.</p> <p>o Experience in unit testing and facilitating user acceptance testing with business customers.</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated experience with File Transfer Protocol (FTP) methodologies. </li><li>Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting enterprise systems and determining where issues exist within system architectures. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge associated with technical skills, time management skills, appropriate interaction with users, and understanding organization structure. </li></ul> <p>Telecommuting: The Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agency's mission and operational needs. Generally, employees new to OSC will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks.
