<p>Job Description and Duties</p> <p>Do you desire a career in human resources where you work in a highly sought-after department? If so, we invite you to join our department as a Consultant within the Classification Services Unit (CSU). As a CSU Consultant, you would be responsible for reviewing and analyzing the department's classifications and providing advice, guidance, and recommendations to departmental staff on a myriad of classification and allocation related matters. You would work collaboratively with your assigned programs to solve complex problems involving classifications, reporting structures, and related issues, ensuring compliance with California civil service regulations while balancing the needs of your program.</p> <p>Essential Functions Include:</p> <ul> <li>Reviews and analyze complex requests for position movement, establishment, reclassification and upgrades. </li><li>Provide support, guidance, and recommendations to assigned programs. </li><li>Assesses the department's existing classification plan, identifies alternatives, and makes recommendations to management based on analysis. </li><li>Reviews duty statements to ensure appropriate allocation of essential duties. </li><li>Partakes in special projects such as developing new classification concepts, revising classification specifications, developing and drafting board items, and collaborating with the Labor Relations office on bargaining and harvest proposals. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <p>This position has been designated as eligible for telework and is currently a remote centered position. The position will however require in- person attendance on a recurring basis. The selected candidate would report to Department of Justice headquarters in Sacramento when required for job functions, in-person meetings, trainings, etc. Expenses related to travel to the office when required are the responsibility of the employee. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time.</p> <p>Please note that all new-to-State employees will be given the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum salary of Range A (whichever is applicable), unless you meet Alternate Range Criteria 069.
