<p>The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences and Neuroscience Program at Colgate University invites applications for one or two positions at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor beginning in the Fall semester of 2025. The term of the position(s) is one year, with the possibility of renewal for one or two additional years depending on the evaluation of teaching effectiveness and institutional need. Both positions are open to area, though emphasis on cognitive, social, personality, developmental, or clinical psychology is encouraged. Successful candidates will be expected to teach staff-taught courses (e.g., Introduction to Psychological Science, Research Methods, or Quantitative Methods), upper-level courses in the candidate's specialty area, and supervision of senior thesis work. Successful candidates may also be expected to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.</p> <p>Completion of a Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field is required prior to, or shortly after, the date of hire. The teaching load for this position is equivalent to five courses per year, with one of those courses being supervision of senior thesis work in the candidate's research area. This report includes statistics as reported to the United States Department of Education for the previous three years concerning reported: 1. Crimes that occurred on- campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Colgate University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus and 2. fires that occurred in student housing facilities. The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security and fire safety, such as policies concerning sexual assault, life safety systems, and other related matters.
