Exceptional candidates gravitate to Summa because of its culture, passion for delivering excellent service to our patients and families commitment to our philosophy of servant leadership, collegial working relationships at every level of the organization and competitive pay and benefits.</p> <p>Summary:</p> <p>Plans, organizes and evaluates the activities both operational and technical for the assigned areas (e.g., Blood Bank, Critical Care/Core Lab, Cytology, Histology, Microbiology, Toxicology, and Special Procedures) on several campuses when assigned and applicable. Oversees employee management, technical and quality assurance programs. Researches patient service issues, developing and implementing corrective measures as needed. Assists in the development and administration of and ensures compliance with federal, state, departmental and hospital policies rules and regulations to include all certifying, regulatory agencies for laboratory practice that are applicable; i.e. CAP and The Joint Commission. Develops and implements performance improvement initiatives to include assessing outcomes and development of action plans.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ol> <li>Formal Education Required: </li></ol> <p>a. Bachelor of Science degree listing one of the required areas of study, as applicable (Biology, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Cytotechnology) if degree does not list area of study transcripts must be submitted for equivalency evaluation.</p> <p>i. Acceptable transcripts must include:</p> <ol> <li> <p>At least 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of biological science (with one semester in microbiology)</p> </li><li> <p>At least 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of chemistry (with one semester in organic or biochemistry)</p> </li></ol> <p>b. Certification/registry as an MLT/MT/MLS generalist, Cytotechnologist, or Histotechnologist with an accredited recognized agency or organization (e.g. ASCP)</p> <ol start="2"> <li>Experience & Training Required: </li></ol> <p>a. Five (5) years related professional experience</p> <p>b. Two (2) years of Supervisory or increasingly responsible experience that has provided leadership skills</p> <p>c. Supervisor/Senior Technologist experience within the last the last two (2) years is preferred</p> <ol start="3"> <li>Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications: </li></ol> <p>a. Ability to work within the institutional vision and be available to support customer requirements for quality patient care</p> <p>g.
