<p>Description The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMM) is an international leader in medical and scientific training, biomedical research, and patient care. It is the medical school for the Mount Sinai Health System, which includes seven hospital campuses, and has more than 5,000 faculty and nearly 2,000 students, residents and fellows. The Associate Researcher is an entry laboratory research position, responsible for conduct of routine and assisting in routine and standardized experiments using techniques specific to the assigned research project under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or a senior researcher. This individual typically conducts laboratory research and the position may include lab and clerical support. S/he analyzes and assists in interpreting research outcomes. Kindly provide a brief detailed description to include: Research Project description: The ideal candidate needs to be motivated by Science and interested in biomedical research and willing to have a 2-year minimum commitment. Will work closely Dr. Alice Kamphorst and other experienced scientists with great opportunity for one-on-one mentorship. The research program focuses CD4 and CD8 T cell differentiation: better understanding of how inflammation, costimulation and cell interactions shape T cell function and response to immunotherapy (e.g. PD-1 targeted therapy). Mouse models of viral infection and tumors will be used, and cancer studies may be complemented by analysis of samples from patients. The lab is currently expanding work on liver cancer. Technical duties: Candidate must be detail-oriented, highly motivated to learn, and flexible. Must possess excellent organizational, record-keeping, analytical and communication skills. Responsibilities will be adjusted according to candidate's experience and career goals. The candidate will work with mice, may work with human samples and needs to be comfortable handling BSL2 samples after appropriate training. Will assist in processing blood and tissues from mice or humans and perform experiments using flow cytometry and other techniques as required (basic tissue culture, virology and molecular biology techniques such as plaque assay, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR). Will perform general laboratory duties as assigned, including assisting lab members with mouse colony. May assist in ordering laboratory supplies and general organization of the lab. With experience, under limited supervision will conduct experiments using advanced techniques specific to the research project. Expected to assist in analysis and review of experimental data for publication and presentation. Goals and/or outcomes of the research project: Past Associate Researchers learned to be rigorous scientists and developed several fundamental skills for research in Immunology. Associate Researchers will have the opportunity to lead experiments independently and participate in scientific publications in high impact peer reviewed journals. Past Associate Researchers successfully applied to PhD programs. Please include in application a cover letter with description of research interests and goals. Analyzes and assists in interpreting laboratory results of moderate complexity. Performs assays to support research studies. Maintains laboratory environment and assists in the upkeep of appropriate inventory; may include ordering of supplies. Logs and tests samples; prepares and submits laboratory materials and specimens for shipment. Assists in the collection, analysis and review of experimental data for publication and presentation. Other duties as assigned. Compensation The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $16.5 - $34.1212 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need.
