<p>Job Title Professional Tutor - Tutoring & Learning Center (Part-Time) Location Main Campus - Dayton, OH Job Number 05371 Department Tutoring & Learning Center Job Category Support Job Type Part-Time Status Regular Job Open Date 12/09/2025 Resume Review Date 12/29/2025 Closing Date 12/28/2025 Open Until Filled No Position Summary</p> <p>The purpose of a Professional Tutor for the Tutoring and Learning Center is to provide tutoring and skill-building services for students individually, in small-group sessions, and/or in the academic labs in different subject areas. Professional Tutors are also required to participate in department training and other professional development opportunities to maintain a knowledge of their subject area(s) and current teaching methods.</p> <p>While the Tutoring and Learning Center supports a variety of subjects, this search is specifically for any of the following content areas: Writing/Composition, History, Political Science, ESL, Introduction to Statistics, Business Statistics I & II, and Nursing; however, it is not limited to these areas.</p> <p>This position pays $17.45 per hour and has a maximum of 28 hours of work per week. This position description does not represent in any way a contract of employment. </li></ul> <p>Principal Accountabilities</p> <ul> <li>Provide individual tutoring, small group tutoring, and/or lab tutoring for Sinclair Community College students </li><li>Assist with Sinclair, Student Affairs, and Tutoring & Learning Center initiatives </li><li>Participate in department training and other professional development opportunities to maintain a knowledge of their subject area(s) and current teaching methods </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of an associate's degree required OR minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent accompanied with at least 60 semester hours in higher education required; bachelor's or master's degree in related field preferred </li><li>Minimum of 1 year of experience in tutoring or teaching experience with a preference in working with a diverse student population required </li><li>Ability to demonstrate a high level of skill with communication, patience, problem solving, listening, dependability, teaching, leadership, and adaptability needed to serve students required </li><li>Familiarity with Zoom and Microsoft Outlook preferred </li></ul>
