With operations in New York, South Carolina, and Canada, our fundamental belief has been to provide unparalleled service to all while maintaining our values of honesty and integrity both on land and sea.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Operate ship cranes, hold loaders, and trimmers to safely and efficiently load, unload, and move cargo at port facilities and job sites. </li><li>Travel to multiple job sites as required. </li><li>Work closely with crane operators, dock crews, and supervisors to coordinate material handling and workflow. </li><li>Inspect equipment and tools, including loaders, hold loaders, and trimmers, before and after use to ensure safe working condition; report any defects or maintenance needs. </li><li>Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). </li><li>Assist in securing and organizing cargo on trailers, docks, or storage areas. </li><li>Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage, travel, and completed work. </li><li>Communicate with supervisors and team members regarding operational status, delays, or safety concerns. </li><li>Perform general labor tasks as needed to support cargo operations. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent (GED). </li><li>3+ years of experience operating loaders, hold loaders, trimmers, or other heavy equipment and handling cargo. </li><li>Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. </li><li>Understanding of cargo handling procedures and basic equipment operation. </li><li>Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. </li><li>Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, and operating equipment. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in port or stevedoring operations. </li><li>OSHA 10 or 30 certification. </li><li>TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). </li><li>Basic knowledge of rigging and cargo securing procedures. </li><li>Experience with bulk materials, aggregates, or breakbulk cargo. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks. </li><li>Ability to climb ladders, access cargo areas, and operate loaders, hold loaders, and trimmers safely. </li><li>Must work outdoors in all weather conditions and around heavy equipment. </li><li>PPE required at all times, including hard hat, gloves, safety vest, and steel-toe boots. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Field-based role primarily at port facilities and traveling job sites. </li><li>Exposure to noise, dust, weather, and heavy equipment. </li><li>Fast-paced environment requiring situational awareness and adherence to safety standards. </li><li>Travel to various job sites as required. </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must be authorized to work in the United States. </li><li>Employment in this role may be contingent upon the successful completion of certain pre-employment requirements, which could include a background check, drug screen, or driving record review, depending on the position </li></ul> <p>What we offer:</p> <p>Pay Range: $28 - $30 per hour</p> <p>Benefits include:</p> <ul> <li>Paid Time Off </li><li>Comprehensive Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance </li><li>Additional Coverage Through AFLAC </li><li>Company Paid Holidays </li><li>401(k) with an 8% Match </li><li>Short Term and Long Term Disability </li><li>Group Life Insurance </li><li>Employee Assistance Fund </li><li>Safe Driver Bonus </li><li>Emergency Service Worker bonus </li><li>Employee Referral Bonus </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer Statement:</p> <p>Carver Companies is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
