To provide support to children in crises through the use of therapeutic crisis intervention techniques.</p> <p>B. To help create and maintain a safe environment for the children.</p> <p>POSITION LEVEL:</p> <p>A. Responsible to Campus Supervisor</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB:</p> <ul> <li>Be an integral member of the Support Team along with cottage staff, and help identify and de-escalate potential crisis situations involving children. </li><li>As a member of the Support Team, help restore self-control to children who are out of control by the use of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques. Be physically and mentally alert at all times, and be prepared to walk and be on feet for extended periods of time to provide ongoing support to children. </li><li>Circulate among the program areas and interact with children, and use appropriate verbal techniques to encourage children to participate actively in all program activities. </li><li>Upon receiving a report or through direct observation, locate out-of-program children and return them to their program area. If a child is determined to be AWOL, cooperate fully with the local and home community authorities to return the child safely to the Republic. </li><li>Help create a safe environment for the residents by facilitating conflict resolution, role modeling, and promotion of safety awareness. </li><li>Assist the Director of the Support Team in his/her overall responsibility for providing a safe and therapeutic environment for residents. </li><li>Transport children back to campus from their unauthorized absences, and to off campus appointments and for travel home as assigned. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Support Team. </li><li>Responsible for adhering to and performing all duties in accordance with every safety standard, practice, and policy of The William George Agency. This includes, but is not limited to, review of The William George Agency's Safety Policy and attending all required safety related training. </li><li>To adhere to all rules, regulations, policies, and philosophy of The William George Agency and the Office of Children and Family Services. </li></ul> <p>About The William George Agency for Children's Services</p> <p>The William George Agency for Children's Services is located on a 650-acre campus nine miles northeast of Ithaca, in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State. It is a private not-for-profit residential treatment center licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) that serves both male and female youth between the ages of 12 and 21, and their families, who present with significant mental health issues, behavioral difficulties, and substance abuse issues.
