<p>The Inpatient Staff Registered Nurse (RN) primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, or community. The registered nurse, as a licensed professional, will be responsible and accountable for his/her practice including compliance with American Nurses Association (ANA) Profession Standards and VHA policies</p> <p>VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards</p> <p>Major duties include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. </li><li>Uses the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, evaluation) in delivering safe care and will accurately document care of patients. </li><li>Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. </li><li>Provide competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients and oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants, as appropriate to the setting. </li><li>Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. </li><li>Contributes professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team. </li><li>Partners with others to effect change and produce optimal outcomes. </li><li>Shares educational findings, experiences, and ideas with peers. </li><li>Actively participation in the unit/program level quality improvement process and initiatives as well as customer service programs. </li><li>Care for a wide variety of patients. </li><li>Read and interpret electrocardiograms to detect dangerous or abnormal readings and notify the physician. </li><li>Records vital signs, including oxygen levels, blood pressure, breathing patterns, and educates the patient and family. </li><li>Will complete orientation and on-going mandatory education. </li><li>Evaluates practice in an ongoing process, based on best evidence. </li></ul> <p>Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory</p> <p>Work Schedule: Full Time: Will consist of 7:00pm to 7:30am shifts and one 11:00pm to 7:30am shift per pay period.
