<p>Overview</p> <p>GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:</p> <p>Under the general supervision of the Associate Director or designee, the Lead Lock and Hardware Specialist installs, repairs, and maintains all types of locks and hardware associated with the Medical Center locking systems, including emergency egress and master keys, and maintains the computerized access key control system. Work closely with access control vendor to insure timely and accurate input and response to access control system.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Monitor access control programs, and participate in selection, placement and maintenance of access systems at all Medical Center locations. </li><li>Assist in installation of access control devices (readers, maglocks, sensors, etc.) </li><li>Establish and maintain computerized access key control system. </li><li>Prepare cost estimates for work; coordinates purchases of supplies and material with vendors and accounting staff. </li><li>Estimate and review records of time, materials and parts consumed. Establish time and material standards from completion of work. </li><li>Interface with other departments to assure work is completed with the least possible disruption to the Medical Center. </li><li>Prepare and alter inspection methods and schedule preventive maintenance as required. </li><li>Perform all responsibilities of lower level locksmith. </li><li>Supervise all trades people assigned to specific projects, reviewing performance for effectiveness and conformance with policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. </li><li>Set up new combinations for all types of combination locks including large built-in safes. Troubleshoot devices to determine appropriate techniques to be followed in repair or replacement of all components. </li><li>While in the performance of routine duties, may be required as needed to perform all work associated with all maintenance trades of an equal or lower graded classification, where the work or task does not require a specific license. </li><li>Work within the Medical Center guidelines, defeat locking mechanism to gain access to locked areas and/or equipment as required. </li><li>Interface with other departments to assure work is completed with the least possible disruption to the Medical Center. </li><li>Perform other duties as required. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma, or equivalent experience </li><li>5 years as a professional locksmith. </li><li>Knowledge of the mechanical aspects of electronic access systems and door alarm systems. </li><li>Knowledge of methods and techniques used in the repair and installation of safes, locks, lock assemblies, and materials and tools used in the trade. </li><li>Must obtain within 6 months SRA approval (Security Risk Assessment) as per the FBI, Criminal Justice Information Systems and Tier 1 select agent approved </li><li>Proven character to obtain bonding. </li><li>Knowledge of computerized databases such as RBASE and Best </li><li>Ability to travel to off-site locations. </li></ul>
