<p>Job Description and Duties</p> <p>STATE HISTORIAN I (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) ORANGE COAST DISTRICT / CRYSTAL COVE STATE PARK / LAGUNA BEACH, CA.</p> <p>The reporting location for this position Crystal Cove Historic District, Laguna Beach, CA. This position will work under the direction of the Staff Park & Recreation Specialist.</p> <p>State Historian I (PI) will perform basic historical research and cultural resource management activities to support State Parks efforts in the monitoring, data management, and support of the concession-funded Phase III historic restoration project at the National Register listed Crystal Cove State Park Historic District. This position will provide day-to-day support to identify, analyze, develop, and research data, document and monitor historic restoration project activities, and provide support to both State Parks and the concession project management team and contractors. Duties include project monitoring and support, research and data analysis, restoration and interpretive design support, and interpretation planning.</p> <p>Training and Development Assignments may be considered.</p> <p>This position is designated as telework eligible - remote centered.</p> <p>This position may work up to 1500 hours in any calendar year.</p> <p>This position requires a valid Class C driver's license. Daily and frequent use of a personal computer and a variety of office software applications, telephones, cameras including web-based and social media communications at a workstation or remotely. Sit in a normal seated position for extended periods of time. Work environment will have exposure to a unique and potentially hazardous construction site including unusual, hazardous site conditions, along with extreme temperatures/weather, uneven elevations, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, heavy equipment and/or loud noises.Involves interpersonal interactions with parks staff, concession staff, construction contractor staff, visitors and design staff.
