We believe in fighting hunger, reducing food waste, and building community through shared meals. Our kitchen team plays a vital role in turning rescued ingredients into meals that nourish thousands every month.</p> <ul> <li>-- </li></ul> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The Kitchen Manager / Chef supports the kitchen operations part time on weekends and late day operations of the Rescue Kitchen. This role involves hands-on food prep, meal packaging, and kitchen maintenance and management. The ideal candidate is reliable, passionate about food recovery, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with changing ingredients and menus.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Manage kitchen operations during assigned shifts under the direction of the Head Chef. </li><li>Assist in preparing and cooking large batches of meals using rescued and donated ingredients. </li><li>Follow recipes and directions provided by the Head Chef to ensure consistency and quality. </li><li>Wash, chop, and prepare produce and other ingredients for cooking. </li><li>Portion, package, and label meals for freezing and community distribution. </li><li>Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, including equipment and work areas. </li><li>Train and delegate tasks to kitchen assistants and volunteers to ensure an efficient workflow. </li><li>Occasionally load and unload delivery vehicles, freezers, and coolers as needed. </li><li>Receive, sort, and properly store incoming food donations. </li><li>Follow all food safety guidelines and labeling procedures.---Qualifications: </li><li>Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or food service setting preferred </li><li>Strong knife skills and basic cooking knowledge </li><li>Able to follow verbal and written instructions accurately </li><li>Comfortable working with a variety of food types, including rescued or irregular produce </li><li>Excellent hygiene and understanding of food safety practices </li><li>Able to lift 30+ pounds and stand for extended periods </li><li>Reliable, flexible, and mission-driven </li><li>Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn </li></ul> <p><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>____</strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></p> <p>Nice to Have:</p> <ul> <li>ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain) </li><li>Experience working with non-profit or community food programs </li><li>Interest in sustainable food systems or hunger relief work </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Servsafe certification (or willingness to obtain). </li><li>The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle the challenges of working with donated food. </li><li>Flexible work schedule, including availability on evenings and weekends as needed. </li><li>A passion for addressing food insecurity and reducing food waste through culinary excellence. </li><li>Compensation: $18.00 / hour, earned PTO, sick time and personal days, Holidays off. </li><li>Benefits </li></ul>
