CCD values the ability to work effectively with students, families, faculty, instructors and staff of diverse backgrounds.</p> <p>GENERAL SUMMARY</p> <p>Community College of Denver's educational programs are designed to enrich the social, civic and economic fabric of our community, nation and the world. Ideas, innovation and the preparation of a well-trained workforce are essential to a vibrant economy. Community College of Denver (CCD) provides access and opportunities for nontraditional students, workforce development and training resources for local organizations, and community partnerships that are improving high school graduation, college enrollment and career success. This position is in the Center for Workforce Initiatives (CWI) department that oversees the college's non-credit program offerings related to Adult Education.</p> <p>The purpose of this position is to lead and direct the full suite of projects within Adult Education (AE) services at CCD, located within the Center for Workforce Initiatives. These high-quality educational experiences operate in a variety of settings, including traditional classrooms, community settings, tutoring, or corporate trainings and via in-person, hybrid and online modalities.</p> <p>The Director is responsible for all projects, including contextualized pre-certificate pathways linked to careers, fee-based English Language Learning (ELL) classes, fee-based High School Equivalency (HSE) and Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes, and alignment of these to preparation for college-level learning. Referral and resource support for college-level matriculation opportunities including for credit certificates and degrees, as well as a Colorado High-School Diploma program.</p> <p>The Director supervises non-credit instructors and staff within ELL and ABE programs to ensure that all projects have clear pathways into workforce, continuing education, and/or degree programs at CCD.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Educational Leadership</p> <ul> <li>Provides management and leadership for non-credit English and ABE, and HSE classes, which includes scheduling classes on CCD campuses and in community or corporate facilities; budgeting for classes and efficiency to ensure fiscal viability of projects; evaluating and monitoring student learning; and ensuring applicability of curriculum and smooth transfer of students from non-credit to for-credit college matriculation and/or career pathways. The Director works with a Lead AE Instructor to support evaluation of non-credit instructors and instructor professional development </li><li>Provides management and leadership for customized corporate training, which includes working with industry and community partners to meet specific needs; hiring and evaluating non-credit instructors; overseeing contextualization of curriculum as required by industry; managing contracts and maintaining budgets to ensure fiscal viability of each partnership. </li><li>Works collaboratively with CCD's High School Diploma program, including staff and faculty from Academic Affairs and the CCD Momentum Credit and Testing Center to ensure referral and service pipeline alignment. </li><li>In partnership with the Vice President for Workforce and Community Partnerships and the Director of Workforce Innovation, works closely with colleagues from Academic Affairs; Admissions, Recruitment and Outreach; Financial Aid; Advising; and Excel! Zone to align CWI adult education programs with specific supports and needs at the college. </li><li>Collaborates with CCD chairs, Deans and faculty, in partnership with the Director of Workforce Innovation to ensure alignment to for-credit pathways through innovative bridge or contextual programs as well as onboarding and assessment services that support successful transitions into academic or career programs. </li></ul> <p>Administrative and Business Development Duties</p> <ul> <li>Develops and manages program budgets and revenue goals in collaboration with the Director for Workforce Innovation, the Vice President of Workforce and Community Partnerships, and CCD fiscal staff. </li><li>Monitors and ensures compliance with internal fiscal reporting and invoicing for adult education services. </li><li>Builds and manages vendor relationships for services that may include online curriculum and testing, contractual instruction, and curriculum development. </li><li>Supervises full-time program staff, including annual performance goal setting, annual reviews, as well as classroom observations. </li><li>Oversees hiring of employees, including creation and maintaining of job descriptions, posting of openings, new hire onboarding, and overseeing hiring committees when appropriate. </li></ul> <p>External Partnerships</p> <ul> <li>Forms and maintains collaborative partnerships with business, industry, workforce agencies, community agencies, and other secondary and post-secondary educational institutions. </li><li>Negotiates contracts or programming services for corporate language training and other offerings by CWI and coordinates with CCD Fiscal Services to execute contracts. </li><li>Engages with community groups and community networks to promote CCD's adult education services and to ensure the program stays abreast of changes and challenges in the communities it serves. </li></ul> <p>Other duties as assigned</p> <ul> <li>Support CCD's mission to ensure CCD students attain their educational and employment goals. </li><li>Be willing and able to occasionally sub or support enrollment and registration events for adult education classes as appropriate. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.</p> <p>Education:(Minimum/Required)</p> <p>BA or BS (or equivalent degree) in Business, English, Adult Education, Education, ESL, TESOL, TEFL, or related field.</p> <p>Experience: (Minimum/Required)</p> <p>Three (3) years' experience in a leadership position in post-secondary education and/or community education environment</p> <p>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: (Minimum/Required)</p> <ul> <li>Supervisory and managerial skills. Ability to manage full and part-time staff, supporting the needs of staff to ensure quality and consistent work, and possessing curiosity to learn team's varying communication and learning styles. </li><li>Knowledge of adult education concepts related to ABE\ASE and ELL instruction, assessments and completion. </li><li>Experience in curriculum development for general learners and/or upskilling employees. </li><li>Excellent skills in the following areas: written and oral communication, organization and record keeping, time management, decision-making, detailed oriented, independent judgment and budget development. </li><li>Ability to align staff and instructors to achieve shared goals that support college priorities related to completion of credentials and retention of learners. </li><li>Ability to work as a team player with other staff and faculty in order to create a collaborative and inclusive environment for CWI and CCD members. </li><li>Skills are applied within the capacity of program management that requires high level of attention to detail with budget tracking, contract validity, grant management, and relationship management </li></ul> <p>Experience: (Preferred)</p> <p>Two (2) years prior instructional or leadership position in community college.</p> <p>Certification: (Preferred)</p> <p>TESOL or Adult Basic Education Authorization</p> <p>Equipment Used: Computer, ten-key, copier, scanner, multi-line phone system.</p> <p>Other Considerations: Desktop computer, LCD projector, standard office equipment. PERA is the 21st largest public pension plan in the United States. PERA is a substitute for Social Security; CCD employees do not contribute to Social Security. PERA eligible employees are required to contribute a fixed percentage of their salary to the pension.
