<p>Originally founded in 1991 as Harlem RBI, DREAM has grown to annually serve more than 2,500 youth across East Harlem and the South Bronx through a network of seven PreK-12, extended-day, extended-year DREAM Charter Schools and community sports-based youth development programs. To learn more, visit wearedream.org.</p> <p>DREAM (formerly Harlem RBI), an award winning youth development program, is seeking dynamic individuals to serve as Program Assistants in our elementary (REAL Kids) and middle school (DreamBuilders) programs. The ideal candidate will be able to join DREAM for the full commitment of the school year and following summer.</p> <p>Reporting to the OST and Athletics Director, Program Assistants will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the program and coordinate communications with families. A successful Program Assistant is a skilled administrator who has a desire to make a lasting impact in an underserved community. The Program Assistant should demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission and values of DREAM and have substantial expertise in all areas of responsibility.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Support the day-to-day operations of the site to ensure youth participate in activities safely, on schedule and with adequate supplies and services; </li><li>Communicate program news and information to program participants, parents and staff; </li><li>Manage enrollment and recruitment strategies; </li><li>Track supply orders and site budget; </li><li>Utilize attendance tracking tools and drive efforts to ensure youth attendance goals are satisfied; </li><li>Input daily attendance into data management system SalesForce; </li><li>Collaborate regularly with the OST and Athletics Director to evaluate, troubleshoot, and improve after school and summer programming; </li><li>Plan and lead daily team meetings before program begins, focused on professional development for staff, and other relevant topics to ensure communication and expectations are clear; </li><li>Additional administrative duties as needed. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>At least 2 years previous operations and administrative experience; </li><li>Ability to read and write in Spanish and fluency in spoken Spanish is preferred; </li><li>High school diploma or equivalent required, college enrollment or degree, preferred; </li><li>Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing Microsoft applications and attendance tracking software; </li><li>Outstanding organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple responsibilities; </li><li>Proven record of success in project management; </li><li>Ability to uphold, promote and model youth development principles; </li><li>Strong oral and written communication skills and presentation skills; </li><li>Belief in the mission and outcomes of DREAM, including the importance of social emotional competency and advocacy for self and others; </li><li>Ability to work during the program hours; </li><li>Must be able to work in person at the program site; </li><li>A strong belief in the mission and values of DREAM, including the desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, families, and community. </li></ul> <p>Commitment</p> <ul> <li>Start date: Mid August 2025 </li><li>End date: Early August 2026, with potential to renew </li><li>From September 2 to June 8, the role's hours are Mon-Thurs, 2-6pm, Fridays, 11:00am-4pm </li><li>During our 5-week summer program, the role's hours increase to Mon-Fri, 8am-5:15pm </li></ul> <p>Locations</p> <ul> <li>DREAM Charter School East Harlem Middle - 1991 Second Avenue, New York, NY </li></ul> <p>Benefits</p> <ul> <li>DREAM offers the following benefits to our part-time employees: </li><li>403(b) retirement plan, with employer matching up to 4% after one year of employment (12-month continuous period) in which you work a minimum of 1,000 hours; </li><li>Disability benefits; </li><li>Referral bonuses; </li><li>Access to our Employee Discount Program, offering savings on travel, entertainment, retail, and more; </li><li>High-performing part-time staff have the opportunity to apply for the DREAM Teaching Fellowship, through which they earn a Masters degree and become full-time teachers at DREAM. </li></ul> <p>Compensation</p> <ul> <li>DREAM offers competitive compensation commensurate with relevant experience with the potential for a seasonal increase. The rate for this position for incoming staff is between $22-25 per hour.
