<p>Description of Service Opportunity:</p> <p>Cambridge Rindge and Latin (CRLS) consists of four learning communities that support the vision of the Cambridge Public Schools (CPS) to provide all students with rigorous, joyful, and culturally responsive learning as well as the social, emotional, and academic supports each student needs to achieve their goals and post secondary success as engaged community members.</p> <p>With this in mind, CRLS in partnership with The Algebra Project will provide the Cambridge Advanced Study Academy (CASA) for rising 10th grade CPS students, who have chosen to take an Honors Geometry next school year and have also been identified as part of a population that has historically experienced racial and/or economic marginalization.</p> <p>The CASA program at CRLS focuses on ensuring that students are provided a comprehensive experience that includes:</p> <ul> <li>Social, emotional, and academic support </li><li>Equitable access to curriculum and opportunities </li><li>A joyful and challenging learning experience </li></ul> <p>The primary objectives of the CASA experience are to:</p> <ol> <li> <p>forge and cultivate strong relationships with peers and teachers.</p> </li><li> <p>build academic confidence in the specific subject area, with a hope of enhancing engagement and the joy</p> </li></ol> <p>experienced in class during the school year.</p> <ol start="3"> <li>demonstrate and encourage a growth mindset as well as embrace risk taking and innovation </li></ol> <p>The program will run for 4 hours for 4 weeks, and students will focus on reviewing and reinforcing prerequisite skills as well as previewing the essential content specific skills that will promote a successful start to the school year. Incorporated throughout the course will be College Math Literacy Workers who will support students throughout the course. Teachers in this program are expected to employ differentiated instructional strategies for a vast array of academically, linguistically and culturally diverse learners.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Coordinate the logistics and oversee the implementation of the CRLS Cambridge Advanced Study Academy (CASA).</p> <ul> <li>Facilitate the creation of the program </li><li>Coordinate the distribution and receipt of applications for program </li><li>Schedule and facilitate meetings when needed regarding and during the CASA program </li><li>Support all students engaging in the program. </li><li>Work with members of The Algebra Project and the Math Literacy Workers </li><li>Work with the Mayor's Program as well as CRLS regarding student and teacher payment, informing necessary parties of timelines, needed documentation, and actions required </li><li>Filter the list of the upcoming year's Honors & Advanced Placement class students based on the MPP's eligibility criteria </li><li>Create attendance sheet and ensure the accuracy of attendance taken </li><li>Provide or coordinate technical assistance when needed for students, families, and educators </li><li>Encourage and demonstrate growth mindset philosophy for students and educator. </li></ul> <p>This work will take place over the summer 2025.</p> <p>Minimum Requirements:</p> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university; Massachusetts certification in grade 9-12 subject matter.</p> <p>Experience teaching in an urban, multi-cultural school system with inclusionary practices. Meet NCLB highly qualified teacher requirements.</p> <p>The contract amount shall not exceed $2,400.00 or 60 hours of work at the Site Coordinator - Summer School rate of $40.00 per hour.</p> <p>Length of Contract:</p> <p>July 1, 2025 through September 1, 2025</p> <p>Contract Amount</p> <p>Not exceed $2500.00</p> <p>Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non-exempt employee and have worked more than 40 hours a week, you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours.</p>
