<p>About the Role</p> <p>We are seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe Developer to design, develop, and maintain mission-critical applications on IBM Z/OS platforms. This role requires deep expertise in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and related technologies, with a strong focus on delivering secure, high-quality code and ensuring operational stability across large-scale enterprise systems.</p> <p>Work model</p> <p>This is a on-site role based on business requirements in Wilmington - DE or New York City , NY. Regardless of work arrangement, we support a healthy work-life balance through our wellbeing programs.</p> <p>Working arrangements may change based on project or client needs.</p> <p>Important Disclaimers:</p> <p>Please note: A few of our roles may require in-person interviews at Cognizant offices or client locations, depending on project or client needs.</p> <p>Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Develop and maintain production-grade code using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, and CICS. </li><li>Review, debug, and optimize code written by peers to ensure performance and reliability. </li><li>Identify opportunities to automate recurring issue remediation, improving system stability. </li><li>Estimate and plan JIRA stories, document tasks, and deliver on commitments. </li><li>Perform hands-on coding and peer reviews, ensuring adherence to architecture standards, risk management, and security policies. </li><li>Collaborate effectively within large, cross-functional teams while also working independently with minimal oversight. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>10+ years of experience developing, debugging, and maintaining IBM Z/OS Mainframe applications. </li><li>Strong proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, MQ, VSAM (batch and real-time processes). </li><li>Expertise with tools such as CICS Mainview, REXX, CLIST, Intertest, File Aid, TSO/ISPF/SDSF, File Manager, Changeman, SORT, and Xpediter. </li><li>Advanced database design and development skills in IMS DB, DB2, DB2 SQL, and Stored Procedures. </li><li>Experience with IBM WebSphere MQ messaging solutions. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Exposure to distributed technologies such as Java, Kafka, REST Web Services, and XML. </li><li>Familiarity with enterprise scheduling tools (CA-7) and file transfer utilities (FTP/NDM/File-Mover). </li></ul> <p>Salary and Other Compensation:</p> <p>The annual salary for this position is between $60,000 - $105,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.</p> <p>This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.</p> <p>Benefits: Cognizant offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Medical/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance </li><li>Paid holidays plus Paid Time Off </li><li>401(k) plan and contributions </li><li>Long-term/Short-term Disability </li><li>Paid Parental Leave </li><li>Employee Stock Purchase Plan </li></ul> <p>Disclaimer:</p> <p>The salary, other compensation, and benefits information is accurate as of the date of this posting.
