<p>Posting closes on 4/28/2025</p> <p>Under direct supervision, this position assists the Pavement Profiler Operator in the operation, care, and maintenance of a pavement profiler machine to support District maintenance operations.</p> <p>Examples of Work</p> <p>The following examples are intended only as illustrations of various types of work performed. No attempt is made to be exhaustive. Related, similar, or other logical duties are performed as assigned. The Department may require employees to perform functions beyond those contained in job descriptions. The Department may modify job descriptions based on Department needs. The Arkansas Department of Transportation is an "at will" employer.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Operate tractor trailer, as well as loading and hauling equipment to and from job sites. </li><li>Operate the pavement profiler in a learning capacity under direct supervision. </li><li>Assist with preventative maintenance and servicing of equipment. </li><li>Work during ice and snow removal operations. </li></ul> <p>Secondary Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Flag traffic and perform clean-up duties when needed. </li><li>Work as a member of a crew performing various duties as needed. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <p>Education and experience: The educational equivalent to a diploma from an accredited high school. Experience operating a tractor trailer pulling a lowboy/float trailer.</p> <p>Knowledge, skills and abilities: Knowledge and ability to safely operator tractor/trailer equipment and heavy equipment Proficient in the operation of a standard transmission vehicle. Ability to follow instructions. Good local knowledge of street and highway names/numbers. Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, and to make entries on reports and records.</p> <p>Physical requirements: Ability to climb, stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.</p> <p>Working conditions: Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Constant statewide travel. ("Constant statewide travel" for this position means overnight travel three or four nights per week, 52 weeks per year with reimbursement for expenses).</p> <p>Licenses, registrations and certifications: Valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) with tanker ("N") endorsement. Must have no "O" (no tractor trailer) or "E" (no manual transmission equipped) restrictions on the commercial driver's license or must have the restrictions removed within 90 calendar days of hire or promotion. During the 90-day grace period, the driver will not be allowed to operate the tractor-trailer without an appropriately licensed operator in the vehicle at all times. Failure to have these restrictions removed within the 90-day period may result in demotion or termination.</p> <p>A pre-employment drug/alcohol test will be conducted after contingent offer of employment or transfer has been made, and prior to the candidate performing any work for the Department in that capacity. Internal applicants who are already in a safety-sensitive position will be subject to pre-employment drug/alcohol testing; however, offers to internal applicants who are not in a safety-sensitive position will be contingent upon pre-employment drug/alcohol testing. Subject to additional testing according to the provisions of the ARDOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.</p> <p>("Accredited" means the educational institution or program is accredited by an accrediting organization recognized either by the United States Department of Education or by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.)</p>
