Responsible for performance of tests that rely on histologic, molecular cytogenetic, immunohistochemical, and in situ methods. Calculates, transcribes and analyzes data using basic statistics.</p> <p>This laboratory is primarily interested in the pathology of cancer.</p> <p>A position is open for a full-time research assistant in the Department of Pathology at Brigham and Women's Hospital. The candidate will conduct research utilizing ultrasensitive single molecule array (Simoa) and Molecular On-bead Signal Amplification for Individual Counting (MOSAIC) assays. Specific applications may include, but are not limited to, the characterization of biomarker concentrations in blood or other bio-fluids using assays developed using existing Simoa/MOSAIC technology or the development of new diagnostic techniques. The candidate will work very independently, under general supervision, to perform experiments and measure biomarkers which are undetectable using conventional methods. Research conducted by the candidate in collaboration with the Research Team will provide new insights into various diagnostics and treatments and will address underlying biological questions.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Education</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree Biology required</p> <p>Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?</p> <p>Yes</p> <p>Experience</p> <p>Prior laboratory experience, either through academic coursework, internships, or employment. 1-2 years preferred</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures. </li><li>Familiarity with common laboratory equipment and instruments used in research experiments. </li><li>Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and scientific software tools. </li><li>Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively. </li><li>Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues. </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey experimental procedures, results, and challenges. </li><li>Independently performs routine and non-routine experiments which are moderate to complex. Experimental work may include preparing binding reagents and evaluating binding reagent viability in assay platform, optimizing, validating, and modifying assays, screening biological samples, and preparing special materials. </li><li>Calculate, transcribes and analyzes data using moderate to advanced statistical techniques. </li><li>Performs literature searches, prepares presentations and progress reports, and assists in preparing manuscripts for publication. Corresponds and communicates progress professionally with collaborators and scientific community. </li><li>In collaboration with PI or Research Manager, establishes new and modifies existing research techniques. </li><li>Coordinates schedule of tests and procedures.
