The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in reading development and intervention, and a passion for helping students build foundational literacy skills. This role is critical to ensuring that every scholar has the tools to succeed academically and thrive in a rigorous college-preparatory environment.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Observe and assess students in various instructional settings to evaluate reading abilities and instructional needs</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct diagnostic assessments and analyze data to inform instruction and intervention strategies</p> </li><li> <p>Design and implement individualized and small group intervention plans to support reading comprehension, phonics, fluency, and vocabulary</p> </li><li> <p>Use evidence-based instructional strategies aligned with the Science of Reading and other best practices</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and administrators to align interventions with classroom instruction and goals</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate student progress regularly with teachers, families, and administrators</p> </li><li> <p>Provide one-on-one tutoring and small-group instruction as needed</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitate group lessons for students with similar instructional needs</p> </li><li> <p>Create engaging learning activities and materials tailored to diverse learners</p> </li><li> <p>Support classroom instruction by modeling effective literacy strategies and coaching staff as needed</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain accurate student records and progress monitoring documentation</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in all professional development sessions and contribute to a collaborative school culture</p> </li><li> <p>Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership</p> </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Valid New Jersey K-6 or P-3 Teaching Certification</p> </li><li> <p>Reading Specialist/Reading Certification preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of three years of job-related experience, such as classroom teaching or reading intervention</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated knowledge of reading assessment tools and intervention programs</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with structured literacy practices and differentiated instruction</p> </li><li> <p>Must pass a criminal history background check and meet all state employment requirements</p> </li></ul> <p>Compensation & Benefits</p> <ul> <li> <p>Salary range: $60,000-$80,000, based on experience</p> </li><li> <p>Signing and Retention bonus available</p> </li><li> <p>Comprehensive benefits package, including:</p> </li><li> <p>Health, dental, vision, and life insurance</p> </li><li> <p>NJ State Retirement Plan (Pension)</p> </li><li> <p>Flexible Spending Account (FSA)</p> </li><li> <p>Professional development assistance & access to a lesson plan repository</p> </li><li> <p>Staff referral program</p> </li><li> <p>Extended time off during Thanksgiving and winter breaks</p> </li></ul> <p>Evaluation</p> <p>Reading Interventionists are evaluated annually based on student outcomes, instructional effectiveness, collaboration, and alignment with school and state literacy goals.</p> <p>Skills & Attributes</p> <ul> <li> <p>Strong knowledge of literacy development and intervention strategies</p> </li><li> <p>Skilled in assessment and data-driven instruction</p> </li><li> <p>Effective communicator and collaborative team member</p> </li><li> <p>Organized, reflective, and committed to student success</p> </li><li> <p>Passionate about equity, access, and helping struggling readers reach grade-level proficiency</p> </li></ul>
