<p>Job Description:</p> <p>CHAPLIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL</p> <p>1.0_FTE PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER</p> <p>Chaplin Elementary School is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Physical Education teacher to deliver high quality instruction beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. The successful applicant must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. He/she will work in collaboration with administration, teachers, paraprofessionals and support staff to develop effective teaching, learning, and assessment strategies.</p> <p>Responsibilities will include:</p> <ul> <li>Develops and delivers Health and Physical Education instruction aligned with state standards and school goals. </li><li>Teaches concepts related to physiology, anatomy, nutrition, hygiene, mental health, substance abuse prevention, and overall wellness. </li><li>Provides instruction in physical fitness, team and individual sports, movement skills, coordination, agility, and lifetime fitness activities. </li><li>Promotes leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, and responsible decision-making. </li><li>Differentiates instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with special needs and accommodations. </li><li>Maintains a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment in both classroom and gym/field settings. </li><li>Inspects and ensures equipment and activity areas are safe and in good working condition. </li><li>Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and skill development. </li><li>Participates in faculty meetings, department meetings, and professional collaboration as appropriate during the assignment. </li><li>Encourages positive student behavior consistent with district expectations. </li><li>Selects and uses appropriate instructional materials, technology, and equipment to support learning. </li><li>Maintains confidentiality of student records and information. </li><li>Assists with school-wide activities, assemblies, and supervision duties as assigned. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned by the Principal or designated administrator. </li></ul> <p>Certification/Licensure</p> <p>044 Certification Physical Education required, 043 Health Certification preferred with 044 certification.</p> <p>Please send application, letter of interest, resume, copy of license/certification and three letters of reference to Sarai Ortega, c/o Andrew Skarzynski, Superintendent, 304 Parish Hill Road, Chaplin, CT 06235.
