<p>The Hawai'i Pacific Health Medical Group and Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children is seeking a congenital heart surgeon to develop, expand, and lead our congenital heart surgery program in Honolulu. The candidate should be board eligible/certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery in Congenital Cardiac Surgery.</p> <p>The current program is supported by a core group of cardiologists and a newly constructed "state of the art" cardiac catheterization/electrophysiology laboratory. The Kapi'olani Medical Center offers a full range of services to patients of all ages, ranging from infants to adults born with congenital heart disease. The infrastructure consists of an outstanding pediatric/cardiac intensive care unit, a full-service neonatal unit and an experienced anesthesiologist team. The program provides comprehensive support for infants and children living in Hawai'i and the Pacific Rim.</p> <p>The selected candidate will assume responsibility for the treatment of complex congenital heart defects in newborns, children, adolescents, and adults. The position will be based at Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children, with adult congenital heart surgery performed at Straub Medical Center.</p> <p>Hawai'i Pacific Health (HPH) is committed to partnering with premiere mainland pediatric centers of excellence for the most complex care of these infants. In alignment with the Consensus for Recommendations for Centers Performing Pediatric Heart Surgery in the United States it is anticipated HPH will continue to collaborate with a major mainland academic center. Academic appointments are anticipated both locally and with our mainland partners. Opportunities for program development throughout the Pacific Rim are present.</p> <p>Qualifications for the position include obtaining a current valid and unrestricted Hawaii medical license, congenital thoracic ABS board certification/eligibility, and experience in treating the entire breadth of congenital heart surgery from newborns to adults.
