<p>Description</p> <p>Summary:</p> <p>Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Spiritual Care and Clinical Pastoral Education, the Chaplain Resident will function as a chaplain, providing compassionate spiritual care to patients, their families and staff. This position offers a year-long, experiential program at Norwalk Hospital that allows a CPE Chaplain Resident to complete three consecutive units of CPE through Norwalk Hospital�s ACPE CPE Program. Clinical work may take place at other hospitals in the Nuvance Health system. The CPE resident will provide spiritual care to patients, families and hospital employees in accordance with the philosophy, mission statement and objectives of the hospital. The Chaplain Residency Position is a one-year termed position.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>The Chaplain Resident will provide compassionate spiritual care to patients, their families and staff regardless of faith background or religious affiliation as part of a holistic, interdisciplinary team approach.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates with physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, and ancillary staff as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team in assessing patient needs and to strengthen patient care. 3. Conducts a spiritual assessment of a patient's spiritual and emotional status and the need for spiritual care; and will document the care in a patient�s electronic record.</p> </li><li> <p>The Resident will round each area of assigned clinical responsibility each scheduled day, and respond to on-call requests following the schedule and procedure of the Spiritual Care Departments within Nuvance Health.</p> </li><li> <p>The Chaplain Resident will demonstrate the ability to actively and collegially function in relationships with peers, supervisors and ACPE Certified Educators in the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Residency Program.</p> </li><li> <p>Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains and Models Nuvance Health Values.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as required.</p> </li></ol> <p>Other Information:</p> <p>Education and Experience Requirements:</p> <p>�One successfully completed unit of CPE from an ACPE Accredited CPE Center.</p> <p>�Associate or Bachelor Degree from an Accredited University, College or Theological School or equivalent education/certification in fields relating to chaplaincy such as meditation and mindfulness practices</p> <p>�Preferred: M. Div. or MA with Major focus in theology or related fields or working toward it.</p> <p>Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:</p> <p>�Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including: Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint</p> <p>�Easily adapts to new technology and windows-based programs.</p> <p>License, Registration, or Certification Requirements:</p> <p>�Affiliation with a religious or spiritual group or practice</p> <p>�Verification of successfully completed unit of CPE</p> <p>�Preferred: Endorsement as a chaplain by one�s faith group and/or the ability to obtain such endorsement or its equivalency</p> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>Manual: Some manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity</p> <p>Occupational: Little or no potential for occupational risk</p> <p>Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort.
