<p>Description</p> <p>This position offers flexibility regarding on-site location within the New Peoples branch network. However, employees must be able to periodically work on-site at the Honaker, VA branch as needed.</p> <p>EXEMPT</p> <p>PRIMARY PURPOSE</p> <p>Responsible for external financial reporting, including SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, proxy statements), SOX control matrix coordination, budget assistance, tax return preparation and accruals, and support for strategic planning and audits. Ensures compliance with SEC regulations.</p> <p>The following essential duties do not cover an all-inclusive list of work requirements. Individuals will perform other job-related duties as assigned, including work in other areas to cover absences or otherwise balance the workload.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ol> <li> <p>Prepare and file SEC reports (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, Form 4, proxy statements)</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with preparation of quarterly earnings releases</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee tax compliance and preparation and assist with tax strategy</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare quarterly ALCO package in partnership with Controller and CFO</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in corporate budget and forecasts</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in preparation of annual report package and shareholder communications</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain current SOX documentation for policies and procedures (shared responsibility)</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and GAAP compliance for external reporting</p> </li><li> <p>Act as liaison to external auditors for technical accounting matters</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with senior leadership to improve company performance as requested</p> </li><li> <p>Provide expertise to accounting and finance team and others</p> </li><li> <p>Work with CFO to ensure bank insurance applications, claims, and renewals</p> </li><li> <p>Review and interpret contracts and documents in partnership with the Controller to determine the impact on the Company</p> </li><li> <p>Manage special projects related to accounting and finance</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain product and service knowledge</p> </li><li> <p>Partner with CFO and Controller on accounting and tax implications for business decisions</p> </li><li> <p>Perform related duties as assigned</p> </li><li> <p>Regularly refresh knowledge of and familiarity with online, mobile, electronic and traditional products and services. Regularly practice/rehearse customer conversation and engagement skills around the entire suite of New Peoples Bank products and services. Invite customer respect by demonstrating product and service knowledge and engaging customers around the benefits of using them.</p> </li></ol> <p>Requirements</p> <p>EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred but not required; CPA preferred. Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a banking or financial services environment.
