Days and hours vary depending on program needs. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Aquatics Instructors are pivotal in the development of children's swimming skills, and helping children gain confidence in the water.</p> <ul> <li>Teach swimming to children ages 3 to 10 years primarily, adults and toddlers may also be taught in classes designed for those age groups. Instructor positively encourage students to explore and learn the skills taught and advance students through class levels. Instructors communicate with the parents and guardians of their students providing information on what skills are being taught how the student is progressing through the class, and when the student is ready to advance to the next level of skills. </li><li>Instructors may also act as lifeguard when assigned by the facility manager. Assists in the daily operation of aquatic facilities including opening, assisting guests, providing programming information, and collecting fees. </li><li>Assists in the daily operation of aquatic facilities including cleaning and following risk management procedures. </li><li>Attends regularly scheduled training sessions and audits, demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to perform rescue, first aid, and emergency response skills during scheduled or random audits. </li><li>May be asked to perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Less than High School; Must be at least 16 years of age </li><li>No prior experience required </li><li>Must pass a lifeguarding and instructor class provided by the City before job assignment. </li></ul> <p>Other Information:</p> <p>Basis of Rating</p> <p>Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.</p> <p>Closing Statement</p> <p>Selected applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment drug test.</p> <p>Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.</p> <p>In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the general public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.</p> <p>This position is classified as "Safety Sensitive".
