<p>Financial Counselor, Community Health and Wellness</p> <p>Valley Health Partners, Allentown, PA</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>Acts as the patient's Sliding Fee Discount Program Specialist throughout Valley Health Partners Community Health Center.</p> <p>In doing so, gathers financial information, informs patients of alternatives for financial obligation for services and assists</p> <p>indigent parties in obtaining free or financial assistance based on the sliding fee policy.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li></li><li>High School Diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Associate degree in Business, Finance, Health Administration, Social Services or a related field. </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li></li><li>One year of previous experience in a customer-oriented environment, patient registration or insurance-related field. </li><li>Experience working directly with patients, assisting with financial assessments, or supporting public benefit programs strongly preferred. </li></ul> <p>Training:</p> <ul> <li></li><li>Successful completion of LVHN Revenue Cycle Training </li></ul> <p>Licenses & Certifications:</p> <ul> <li></li><li>Some positions may require a valid driver's license, as they may conduct community outreach, partner-site appointments, or home visits within VHP's Service Area. </li></ul> <p>Skills needed:</p> <ul> <li></li><li>Successful completion of LVHN Revenue Cycle Training. </li><li>Work requires the ability to excel in communication skills, both oral and written, with internal and external customers. </li><li>Work requires the ability to anticipate and understand patient financial needs, interpret complex insurance or eligibility information, and accurately document and relay information to appropriate personnel. With that in mind, candidate must have the ability and eagerness to conduct outreach in the community or via home visit as necessary for the purposes of obtaining documents to complete application for benefits. </li><li>Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess patient's situations, identify potential coverage pathways and support resolution through financial assistance programs. </li><li>All our interactions require courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, their families, visitors, VHPCHC employees. </li><li>Spanish as a second language is preferred. </li></ul>
