Here's why you'll want to be in this role:</p> <ul> <li>Meaningful Impact: Your work will directly impact the quality of life for residents by creating safer, more efficient, and sustainable infrastructure. </li><li>Diverse Projects: No two days are ever the same - you will work on design and construction of public infrastructure including roadways, sanitary sewer, water main, stormwater systems, public parks, and more. </li><li>Collaborative Team: You will belong to a passionate, experienced group of professionals who value innovation and teamwork. </li><li>Professional Growth: You will have access to training and certifications throughout your career. </li><li>Community Focus: You will be part of an organization that values its engineers and recognizes their role in supporting the City's strategic goals. </li></ul> <p>In this pivotal role within the Department of Public Works - Engineering team, you will be responsible for:</p> <ul> <li>Preparing or supervising contractual preparation of bid documents, engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, feasibility reports, and documentation of public works projects, including stormwater management and transportation. </li><li>Leading professional design and construction teams, including internal and external engineers, technicians, and consultants, to develop and deliver complex and consequential public works infrastructure projects. </li><li>Project management, including contract administration, quantity documentation, budgeting, estimating, scheduling, reviewing contract proposals, and recommending contract awards. </li><li>Reviewing private development projects to maintain compliance with federal, state, and city regulations, statutes, and ordinances regarding public improvement projects, stormwater management, and transportation projects. </li><li>Supporting the City's economic development initiatives through planning, study, design, and implementation of public infrastructure to facilitate residential, commercial, and industrial development. </li><li>Plus so much more! </li></ul> <p>To be successful and well prepared for this position, the minimum education and experience required includes:</p> <ul> <li>A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, biological systems engineering, or a related field. </li><li>Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering project management, planning, and designs. </li><li>Registered as a professional engineer in the State of Wisconsin or ability to obtain licensure reciprocity within three (3) months of hire or promotion or Certification in Stormwater Management through the American Public Works Association. </li><li>A valid, state-issued driver's license at time of hire is required. </li></ul> <p>Unsure you meet the qualifications?</p> <p>A combination of equivalent experience, education, or professional training that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position as determined by the Human Resources Office may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.</p>
