The Group Manager is responsible for the management and oversight of a team of 15 inspectors and project managers managing multiple large DOT inspection projects such as WYDOT above-water inspection; MDT climb, underwater, and timber inspection; CDOT off-system inspections; and NMDOT bridge inspections. The Group Manager independently applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in a broad area of assignments and related fields. The position requires a high level of ethical and professional conduct in technical and managerial activities.</p> <p>Typical Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provides expertise in structural inspections, scheduling, and management of DOT clients. </li><li>Oversees the development and training of team leaders and junior project managers. </li><li>Act as a structural inspection subject matter expert and serve in a quality control role on multiple jobs. </li><li>Occasional travel up to 1 week per month to team lead inspections in the field and conduct quality control field inspections. </li><li>Oversees both AutoCAD and MicroStation drafting for inspection reports (climbing and underwater). </li><li>Is active in technical societies. </li><li>Serves as a senior project manager or senior project engineer on complex projects and as a designated client contact. </li><li>Assists the regional manager in business development efforts. </li><li>Supervises and monitors client relationships strategies. </li><li>Successfully develops and maintains meaningful relationships with clients. </li><li>Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours. </li><li>Supervises select group of employees and support staff. Manages the staff and is responsible for technical training, career development, and performance of all assigned staff. </li><li>Serves as a coach for engineering and technical staff. </li><li>Responsible for identifying, recruiting, and retaining qualified technical personnel. </li><li>Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety. </li><li>Ensures that staff needing specialized training in health and safety procedures and practices receives such training and that safety is discussed as an important aspect of their work. </li><li>Follows established communication processes and systems to ensure effective communication with staff, clients, and corporate office. </li><li>Field work required, which could include nights and weekends. </li><li>Other duties may be assigned. </li><li>Relocation is available </li></ul> <p>The base salary will be estimated between $155,000 - $180,000 plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.</p> <p>Click HERE to see the variety of benefits Collins has to offer.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Education and/or Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree and/or master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year university. </li><li>At least 7+ years progressive engineering experience, including project management. </li><li>Must have passed the NHI/FHWA Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges #130055 and/or #130056. </li><li>Maintains competency in and serves as major resource in field of expertise. </li><li>Professional Engineer (P.E.) and/or Structural Engineer (S.E.) certification. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <ul> <li>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
