<p>Position Summary & Description</p> <p>THIS POSITION IS POSTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE</p> <p>POA COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT</p> <p>Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) invites applicants to apply for a Dispatcher - Security Officer 1 position in the Public Safety Department.</p> <p>Make a real impact as a Security Officer 1 - Dispatcheron our dynamic and thriving IUP campus! As the first point of contact in emergency and non emergency situations, you'll play an important role in keeping our campus secure while working alongside other dedicated professionals in the field. If you thrive under pressure, communicate with confidence and are dedicated to student success, we want you on our team.</p> <p>The responsibilities for this position include but aren't limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Dispatching for the police department by receiving emergency and service calls; dispatching patrol officer(s) by radio; receiving fire and burglar alarms and taking corrective action; accepting after-hours booting fees, as-needed; communicating alert/advisory information to patrol officers. </li><li>Parking enforcement, unlocking/locking buildings, and directing traffic </li><li>Handling inquiries from the public </li><li>Monitoring fire alarms, trouble alarms, panic alarms, and security cameras for IUP academic, administrative and residential buildings </li><li>Communicate with Indiana Borough Police, Indiana County Emergency Management and other agencies </li><li>Preparing reports and other duties as directed/required by the Director of Public Safety </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule:</p> <p>This position is required to work shifts including daylight, afternoon and midnight, overtime, holidays and fill scheduled vacancies. The weeklyschedule is to be determined.</p> <p>Position Qualifications</p> <p>MINIMUM:</p> <ul> <li>GED or high school diploma </li><li>Valid driver's license </li><li>Must pass a background check and be able to access JNET, Criminal History repository, MDT, or other databases as deemed necessary for operations </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in the security field, dispatching, call centers, or law enforcement </li><li>Clean criminal history and JNET certification </li><li>Commonwealth Law enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification </li><li>CPR certification, CAD and parking software experience </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Communicate both orally and in writing to issue, receive, and carry out instructions and orders effectively and to convey information to a variety of co-workers and the general public </li><li>Use of variety of common office machines such as telephones, calculators, copiers, computer terminals, keyboards, auxiliary printers, and similar equipment </li><li>Perform manual duties such as lifting and carrying various weight limits </li><li>Duties performed may require stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, and prolonged standing </li><li>Provide assistance and guidance to internal and external customers </li><li>Follow oral and written instructions </li></ul> <p>Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <ul> <li>A complete application will consist of a cover letter, resume, names, and email addresses of three references submitted in this online application system at Employment at IUP. </li><li>Automated reference requests will be generated when the application is submitted by the applicant. </li><li>You will receive a confirmation email when your application has been successfully submitted. </li><li>Please do not fax, mail or e-mail any documentation. </li><li>Preference will be given to current IUP employees </li></ul> <p>All offers of employment are subject to and contingent upon confirmation of work eligibility and completion of a satisfactory background investigation which includes, but is not limited to, Act 34, Pennsylvania Criminal Record Clearance; Act 151, Child Abuse Clearance; and Act 114, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Checks.</p> <p>IUP is an equal opportunity employer and, in compliance with federal and state laws and university policy, is committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all persons without regard to age, color, national origin, race, religion, disability, veteran status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.</p>
