<p>Job Description</p> <p>The Instructional Coach (IC) works effectively and collaboratively with all middle school teachers, support staff, and administrators. The coach remains current in best practices in pedagogy, fosters effective communication, and builds strong and effective relationships</p> <p>Essential Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Plans and facilitates on-going and job-embedded professional development that includes reflective teaching strategies and research-based best practices. </li><li>Plans and facilitates professional development that focuses on embedding social and emotional learning, developing performance-based assessments, ensuring differentiation, support for cross-curricular connections, and implementation of technology-based lessons </li><li>Promotes diverse and inclusive practices in all classrooms. </li><li>Supports a culture that sparks curiosity and ignites passion in our teachers. </li><li>Organizes and leads committees/study groups to improve teaching and learning </li><li>Works with building administrators, directors, teachers, and/or instructional coaches to organize and coordinate professional development that supports best instructional and assessment practices. </li><li>Observes teachers and teams of teachers and offers insights to enhance teaching and learning. </li><li>Designs and implements model lessons for teachers. Co-plans, co-teaches, and co-assesses students. </li><li>Assists in the development of instructional strategies to challenge all students. </li><li>Demonstrates the use of a variety of assessment tools, including formative, summative, formal, informal, qualitative, and quantitative. </li><li>Keeps abreast of research and trends in instruction and assessment and provides assistance in determining their appropriateness for inclusion into the curriculum. </li><li>Assists in the development and implementation of local and teacher-driven grant applications as applicable. </li><li>Collaborates with other coaches, coordinators, and directors on topics such as (but not limited to) integrated curriculum, professional development, and grants. </li><li>Provide academic support to students as needed. </li><li>Provide coverage for leave of absences as needed. </li><li>Performs other instructional and curriculum related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal. </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree, secondary license, and prior teaching experience required </li><li>Prior leadership (formal/informal) experience preferred </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills </li><li>Welcomes and proactively problem-solves challenges </li><li>Positive/ "Can Do" Attitude </li><li>Identifies target areas to improve </li><li>Takes initiative and has the ability to create and implement a plan in collaboration with others </li><li>Demonstrates proficiency in using technology to support teaching, learning, and communication </li></ul>
