<p>The Caldwell YMCA opened its doors on October 27, 2005. Since that time, it has become a hallmark of the community, impacting the lives of thousands of kids and families. Facility amenities include a large cardio and weight floor, full-court basketball gym, three fitness studios, and a state-of-the-art aquatics center including a lap-pool, splash pad, pretzel slide, and lazy-river.</p> <p>The Cooking Class Youth Enrichment Instructor leads culinary classes for children and teens and creating a love for cooking, teaching, and inspiring young people to explore the culinary world. This position involves creating fun, engaging, and educational cooking experiences for youth, while also teaching them important kitchen skills, food safety, and healthy eating habits.</p> <p>Come be a part of a NEW and EXCITING YOUTH PROGRAM here at the Caldwell YMCA!</p> <p>Schedule:</p> <p>This is a part-time position averaging 2 1/2 hours per week. Schedule requirements are Bi-weekly sessions, 2 hours sessions. Monday and Thursday evenings. Pay is $14.35/hour.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Lead cooking classes for children and teenagers, providing step-by-step instruction on recipes and cooking techniques. </li><li>Plan and prepare age-appropriate, engaging, and nutritious recipes for each class. </li><li>Teach fundamental cooking skills, such as knife safety, food measurement, and cooking methods. </li><li>Introduce students to basic nutrition, food groups, and the importance of healthy eating. </li><li>Foster a positive, supportive, and interactive classroom environment. </li><li>Provide clear instructions and guidance to ensure each participant's safety and success. </li><li>Supervise children in the kitchen, ensuring safe practices with cooking tools and appliances. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary education or certification is a plus. </li><li>Previous experience teaching or working with children is preferred. </li><li>A passion for cooking and working with youth. </li><li>Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. </li><li>Knowledge of food safety practices and kitchen hygiene. </li></ul> <p>Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>Employees will receive a FREE individual YMCA Membership. </li><li>Ability to utilize FREE childcare when teaching classes - up to 2 hours a day. </li></ul> <p>Welcoming and Inclusion:</p> <p>At the Y, we welcome everyone whose behavior adheres to our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
