<p>Basic Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Five (5) years' experience in the trade as a journeyman, current Pipefitter's license and EPA CFC Technician certification required. </li><li>Completion of trade or vocational school program required. </li><li>Previous experience in the installation, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of all components and/or systems (chillers, boilers, piping systems, compressors, cooling towers, pumps, water treatment systems, controls, etc.) pertaining to the various utility generation and distribution systems noted above. </li><li>Must have a valid Massachusetts driver's license </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>The health of our workforce is a priority for Harvard University. With that in mind, we strongly encourage all employees to be up-to-date on CDC-recommended vaccines.</p> <p>Position Description</p> <ul> <li>Operates and maintains chilled water, steam, and compressed air generation/distribution systems and related equipment/components; water/drainage distribution systems; and other related equipment/systems as directed. </li><li>Works with other personnel to maintain reliable utility service and efficient performance. </li><li>Takes equipment readings critical for operations, maintenance history, billing, etc. </li><li>Completes logs, prepares reports and enters data/information into computers as necessary. </li><li>Performs inspections and preventive maintenance on various equipment as directed. </li><li>Maintains work area, tools and equipment. </li><li>Cleans and maintains utility facilities as directed. </li></ul> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>A specifically trained mechanic, skilled in the trade of operating and servicing utility systems (chilled water, steam, and compressed air generation/distribution systems and related equipment/components; water/drainage distribution systems; and other related systems). Responsible for maintaining an intimate knowledge of such systems and identifying and resolving problems associated with each system consistent with recognized trade practices, industry standards, codes/jurisdictional authorities, and University guidelines/practices. Must maintain work area, tools and equipment in accordance with University standards/practices. Required to work independently and/or with others under the guidance of the Associate Manager and/or Working Foreman.</p>
