<p>General Description</p> <p>The Marketing & Engagement Manager develops and leads citywide marketing and community engagement initiatives. The position is responsible for showcasing our City, building our brand, and strengthening relationships that foster community engagement. This is a supervisory position that reports to the Communications Manager and provides backup support in their absence. The position also serves an essential role supporting the lead Public Information Officer during emergency activations.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions</p> <ul> <li>Assist with the creation, implementation, and annual updating of a citywide strategic marketing and communications plan. </li><li>Supervise a team of creative professionals within the Communications Department. </li><li>Work collaboratively with Communications team members and other City departments to identify communications needs and devise creative concepts, collateral and engaging messaging that align with the City's Strategic Pillars and brand guidelines. </li><li>Assign, track and oversee departmental marketing requests to completion. </li><li>Take a lead role in coordinating City events, including ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings, celebrations, town halls, community forums and other public engagement activities. </li><li>Help manage and oversee development of Citywide promotional materials; identify and facilitate advertising and sponsorship opportunities. </li><li>Build and leverage strong working relationships with key stakeholders and manage ongoing community partner engagement. </li><li>Review, maintain, refresh, and enhance the City's brand. </li><li>Assist in budget preparation, including establishing priorities and allocation of resources. </li><li>Work in an on-call capacity to respond to emergencies and release information to media and the public during evening and weekend hours as necessary. </li><li>Support the City's Emergency Operations Center during emergency activations. </li><li>Assist the Communications Department in working toward ADA compliance. </li></ul> <p>(These essential job functions are not to be construed as a complete statement of all duties performed. Employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned, including City-directed work assignments in the event of a declared emergency.)</p> <p>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to identify target audiences, set marketing and engagement goals, develop marketing campaigns, track progress, analyze data and evaluate results. </li><li>Understanding of current trends and best practices in marketing, community engagement and local government. </li><li>Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop/InDesign). </li><li>Knowledge of social media trends/best practices and emerging digital communication platforms. </li><li>Strong knowledge of modern design principles and concepts. </li><li>Ability to exercise strong judgment, think independently and find creative solutions. </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, officials, and the public. </li><li>Ability to remain calm in crisis or high-pressure situations. </li><li>Skilled in public speaking and making presentations to groups. </li><li>Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines simultaneously. </li><li>Understanding of public records/Florida Sunshine laws. </li><li>Ability to recognize and develop community engagement opportunities. </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Additional requirements include balancing, bending, climbing, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking.</p> <p>(Occasional=1-3 Hrs; Frequent=3-5 Hrs; Constant=5-8 Hrs - Per Workday)</p> <p>Education, Experience, Licenses and Certifications</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Public or Business Administration or other related degree. </li><li>Four (4) years related experience in a similar position. </li><li>Two (2) years of supervisory experience is preferred. </li></ul> <p>(A comparable amount of relevant training, education and/or experience may be substituted for the above qualifications.)</p> <p>Licenses and Certifications:</p> <p>Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.</p> <p>Emergency Response Responsibility</p> <p>Every City employee has emergency response responsibilities, though not every position will require routine assignments during an emergency event. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official job description. Assignments in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature, with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically and operationally challenging conditions.</p> <p>Hiring Range Statement</p> <p>Please note, the hiring pay range for this position is the minimum up to a rate equal to or less than the midpoint of the salary range.</p> <p>The City of North Port, FL is an Affirmative Action/ADA and Equal Opportunity Employer.
