Position:</p> <ul> <li>Speech/Language Pathologist </li></ul> <p>Objective:</p> <ul> <li>The Speech Language Pathologist will consult with classroom staff in implementing goals of all students. Collect, analyze and maintain data on all students within the classroom. Conduct thorough evaluations necessary for quarterly progress reports, annual assessment and reevaluations. Provide assistance and/or consultation in feeding skills if necessary. Initiate and support the use of assistive technology to provide access. Daily maintenance of supplies, equipment, and departmental space. Organize daily schedule to meet caseload requirements and use indirect time appropriately. Consult with staff in other discipline areas to improve programming. The Speech/Language Pathologist is responsible for providing prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students who exhibit communication deficits in the areas of language, articulation and fluency. These services are designed to help children meet their educational goals. This position also requires ongoing parent contact and collaboration with general education and/or therapeutic staff. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Design, schedule and deliver appropriate motivating speech/language therapy as outlined by student needs. </li><li>Provide direct individual and/or group instruction to students </li><li>Provide clinical supervision Speech/Language Pathology Assistants. </li><li>Administer speech and language evaluations and provide findings at team meetings. </li><li>Attend IEP meetings for own caseload and caseload of Speech/Language Pathology Assistants under your supervision. </li><li>Facilitate 2-way communication with families/caregivers through shared resources. </li><li>Responsible for maintaining licensure and meeting professional development requirements for licensure </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of master's degree in speech/language therapy or related subject. </li><li>Licensed as Speech/Language Pathologist by the American Speech and Language Hearing Association (ASHA) CF (Clinical Fellow) candidates are strongly encouraged to apply </li><li>MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) license as Speech/Language Pathologist or ability to secure appropriate license </li><li>Familiar with speech/language evaluation tools. </li><li>Experience as a licensed Speech Language Pathologist, preferred. </li><li>Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing the provision of special education and the special education process. </li><li>Knowledge of variety of students programming needs in K-12 setting. </li></ul> <p>Terms of Employment:</p> <ul> <li>Reports to: Executive Director of Special Education or Designee </li><li>Rate: In accordance with the Unit A contract found here </li><li>Physical Demands (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing): The employee must have the ability to quickly keep pace with students, grades PreK - 12 and have the stamina to stay alert and engaged in therapy and/or de-escalation sessions. The employee is required to talk, hear and use close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to quickly adjust focus. Frequent fine motor use such as typing and writing. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, running.
