<p>Job Summary</p> <p>Assists in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular, electrophysiology, and other related procedures.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Positions patients and selects exposure factors accurately. </li><li>Utilizes radiation protection and safety standards. Applies as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) principle to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others. </li><li>Assists the physician in a variety of imaging procedures. </li><li>May be required to prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations. </li><li>Responsible for setting up and providing equipment and supplies before, during, and after procedures. </li><li>Assists physicians with patient monitoring during procedures. </li><li>Documents evaluation results, progress reports, treatment plans, and other data using appropriate formats and systems. </li><li>Prioritizes multiple important responsibilities related to ensuring patient safety and correct procedure. </li><li>Calculates hemodynamic or physiologic values and records waveforms for patient records. </li><li>Assists physician in performing common catheterization interventions including, stent placements, balloon angioplasties, heart valve replacements, and electrophysiology tests. </li><li>Operates intracardiac or intravascular ultrasound equipment, fluoroscopy equipment, or other imaging systems. </li><li>Inserts venous and arterial catheters and wires through a needle into the blood vessels and into the heart so that X-rays, </li></ul> <p>angiograms, and other recordings can be taken to determine the heart's structure and function under the direct supervision of the physician.</p> <ul> <li>Performs laboratory tests through catheterization or related approaches to determine the gas level concentration in a patient's blood for the heart or lungs.
