<p>The Foundation Accountant is responsible for performing a wide range of accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliation duties to support the fiscal integrity of the HSSU Foundation. This position manages the accurate processing of gifts, pledges, endowments, and restricted funds, and ensures compliance with donor intent, internal controls, and accounting standards. A central function of this role is the expert use of Raiser's Edge (RE/RE NXT) for gift processing, reporting, and reconciliation. The Foundation Accountant works closely with Advancement leadership, the Division of Finance, donors, and campus partners to provide timely, accurate, and transparent financial information that supports both fundraising and stewardship goals. This position reports directly to the Vice President for University Advancement.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Manage gift, pledge, endowment, and restricted fund accounting for the HSSU Foundation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with donor intent. </li><li>Process and reconcile all gifts and financial transactions in Raiser's Edge and perform regular reconciliations with University financial systems and Foundation general ledger accounts. </li><li>Prepare timely financial statements, fund reports, and schedules to support internal reporting and donor stewardship. </li><li>Process vendor payments, reimbursements, contracts, and related Foundation expenditures while maintaining proper documentation and internal controls. </li><li>Assist with annual audits, tax-related filings (including applicable 1098/1099 forms), and other compliance requirements. </li><li>Collaborate with Advancement, Finance, and campus partners to ensure accurate financial reporting and high-quality service to donors and stakeholders. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned to support Foundation operations and Advancement goals. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. </li><li>Professional experience using Raiser's Edge or Raiser's Edge NXT, especially in gift processing, reporting, and reconciliation. </li><li>Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail. </li><li>Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with accuracy. </li><li>Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook). </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders </li><li>Experience in nonprofit, higher education, or foundation accounting. </li><li>Knowledge of fund accounting, endowment management, and donor-restricted funds. </li><li>Familiarity with auditing and financial compliance practices </li><li>Experience with reconciliation between CRM and ERP system. </li></ul> <p>EOE Statement</p> <p>Harris-Stowe State University is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
