<p>Piper Companies is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer for a technology-driven financial services organization. The DevOps Engineer will focus on cloud infrastructure engineering, distributed systems reliability, system automation, and operational excellence across mission-critical platforms. The Senior DevOps engineer will design, automate, monitor, and support high-availability environments while improving system stability, security, and performance. This is a hybrid (3 days in office) full-time opportunity located in Raleigh, NC. This engineer must be able to maintain a security clearance if given the opportunity.</p> <p>Responsibilities for the Senior DevOps Engineer include:</p> <ul> <li>Manage and operate highly scalable, highly available distributed systems in cloud environments. </li><li>Automate infrastructure and application operations using infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools. </li><li>Define key system metrics and ensure end-to-end observability for new and existing services. </li><li>Build monitoring, alerting, and resiliency mechanisms to maintain system performance and platform health. </li><li>Oversee deployments, upgrades, and configurations in secure pre-production and production environments. </li><li>Validate service functionality and document test plans for deployment readiness, including automation when needed. </li><li>Perform routine system maintenance, troubleshoot operational issues, and resolve long- and short-term system deficiencies. </li><li>Keep infrastructure secure through patching, vulnerability remediation, and proactive compliance management. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications for the Senior DevOps Engineer include:</p> <ul> <li>6+ years of AWS experience across a wide range of cloud services, including EKS, EC2, etc. </li><li>Scripting experience with Python and familiarity with network security protocols. </li><li>Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes </li><li>Advanced proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code. </li><li>Proven experience managing AWS environments end-to-end in production settings. </li><li>Strong Linux administration experience (Windows experience beneficial). </li><li>Experience managing S3 storage, lifecycle policies, and operational practices. </li><li>Production experience with Postgres; SQL Server experience is a plus. </li><li>Exposure to ELK stack or similar logging/monitoring solutions. </li></ul> <p>Compensation for the Senior DevOps Engineer includes:</p> <ul> <li>Salary range: $125,000 - $140,000 </li><li>Comprehensive benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, PTO, holidays, and sick leave as required by law. </li></ul> <p>Keywords: AWS, Amazon web services, EKS, Kubernetes, docker, EC2, S3, VPC, CloudWatch, terraform, Infrastructure as code, IaC, Ansible, Jenkins, CI/CD, Git, Artifactory, HashiCorp, Chef, Puppet, distributed systems, scalability, resiliency, system monitoring, APM, SRE, postgres, SQL server, database administration, backup, database tuning, SQL, DNS, VPN, IDS/IPS, subnets, security group, network ACLs, WAF, SOC, python, bash, Newrelic, Dynatrace, splunk, ELK stack, SysDig, fortigate, firewalls, jira</p> <p>#LI-BH1</p> <p>#HYBRID</p> <p>This job is open for applications on 3/1/2026 and will remain open for at least 30 days from the posting date.</p>
