<p>What You'll Do:</p> <p>As a Development Engineer on our Electric Engine team, you'll support the development and testing of Archer's innovative electric aviation technology. This role offers hands-on experience with cutting-edge electric propulsion systems while working alongside senior engineers to solve complex technical challenges and ensure our products meet the highest standards of safety and performance.</p> <p>Support Electric Engine Analysis & Testing</p> <ul> <li>Lead electric engine teardowns and component inspections </li><li>Support root cause investigations by collecting and organizing data from test results </li><li>Help document findings and contribute to technical reports </li><li>Learn to identify and escalate critical issues that impact product safety and performance </li></ul> <p>Thermal Systems Testing Support</p> <ul> <li>Assist in thermal testing of electric motors, inverters, and battery systems </li><li>Support data collection during thermal teardown analysis and component investigations </li><li>Help identify thermal issues through hands-on testing and measurement </li><li>Document thermal test procedures and results accurately </li></ul> <p>Engineering Process Development</p> <ul> <li>Support field failure analysis activities and help implement corrective actions </li><li>Assist in developing Electric Engine DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) documentation </li><li>Help validate Electric Engine requirements during development phases </li><li>Support powertrain system studies and performance optimization efforts </li></ul> <p>Cross-Functional Collaboration</p> <ul> <li>Work closely with Electric Engine design, Motor, Rotor, and Geartrain teams </li><li>Participate in design reviews and technical discussions </li><li>Support senior engineers in providing technical guidance to project teams </li><li>Contribute to team problem-solving sessions and brainstorming activities </li></ul> <p>What You Need:</p> <p>Education & Experience</p> <ul> <li>Master's / PhD Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field </li><li>2-5 years of relevant engineering experience (internships and co-ops count) </li><li>Interest in electric propulsion systems, motors, or powertrain technologies </li><li>Strong academic foundation in engineering fundamentals </li></ul> <p>Technical Skills</p> <ul> <li>Basic understanding of mechanical, thermal, and electrical engineering principles </li><li>Familiarity with problem-solving methodologies and root cause analysis concepts </li><li>Basic proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel required, MATLAB/Python preferred) </li><li>Hands-on experience with testing equipment and measurement tools </li></ul> <p>Professional Skills</p> <ul> <li>Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Ability to work effectively in team environments </li><li>Eagerness to learn and take on new technical challenges </li><li>Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Willingness to travel domestically as needed (up to 15%) </li><li>Commitment to safety protocols and quality engineering practices </li></ul> <p>Bonus Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Internship or project experience in aerospace, automotive, or electric vehicle industries </li><li>Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) </li><li>Hands-on experience building test setups or working in laboratory environments </li><li>Coursework or projects involving electric motors, power electronics, or thermal systems </li><li>Experience with data analysis and visualization tools </li></ul> <p>At Archer, we reward exceptional performance that supports our business strategy.
