<p>Overview</p> <p>Lifeway is seeking an Acquisitions Editor responsible for pursuing and shepherding projects from authors and literary agents in order to acquire and develop non-fiction resources for CBA, ABA and mass markets. In this role, you will negotiate publishing terms and work with authors to ensure that manuscripts are acceptable to B&H publishing standards. Relocation assistance is available.#LI-Hybrid</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Lives out Lifeway's mission and values, showing deep commitment to Kingdom work </li><li>Identify, solicit, and acquire high-quality non-fiction manuscripts for publication. </li><li>Develop and maintain strong relationships with authors, agents, and industry professionals. </li><li>Provide substantive content editing, guiding manuscripts from concept to final publication. </li><li>Stay informed about market trends and reader preferences to shape publishing decisions. </li><li>Negotiate contract terms with authors and agents within approved parameters. </li><li>Contribute to product ideation by researching trends, analyzing bestsellers, and engaging in brainstorming. </li><li>Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment with Lifeway's publishing goals and editorial standards. </li><li>Represent Lifeway at key conferences and events, identifying new talent and acquisition opportunities. </li><li>Manage multiple projects, meeting deadlines and financial objectives. </li><li>Travel as required to attend industry events, meet authors, and build publishing relationships. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Education</p> <p>Bachelor's degree - English, journalism, Christian studies (or related field), required</p> <p>Master's degree, in process or completed, required; seminary degree, strongly preferred</p> <p>Advanced graduate degree (PhD, etc), preferred</p> <p>Skills, Knowledge, & Experiences, required</p> <ul> <li>2+ years of editorial and publishing experience. </li><li>Experience cultivating ministry platforms and market impact. </li><li>Advanced written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Strong organizational and time management skills. </li><li>Ability to manage multiple projects under deadline pressure. </li><li>Detail-oriented with strong editorial judgment. </li><li>Intermediate ability to work within a team environment. </li></ul> <p>Actively involved in an evangelical Christian church</p> <p>Skills, Knowledge, & Experiences, preferred</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of CBA and ABA publishing landscapes. </li><li>Experience in author development and acquisition. </li></ul>
