The primary responsibility of a Junior Camp Counselor is to directly engage with campers and ensure their safety during all scheduled program activities.</p> <ul> <li>Under the direction of the Senior Counselors, Camp Director, Cultural Manager, Program Director, and/or higher-level park staff, Junior Camp Counselors will continuously and actively supervise campers to protect them from unreasonable risks to their health or safety. This includes physical or sexual abuse, injury, or any public health hazard. At a minimum, Junior Camp Counselors shall maintain direct visual or verbal communication with campers during all activities, and the counselor must always be able to account for each camper's whereabouts. </li><li>Junior Camp Counselors are required to actively participate in all swimming activities. This includes enforcing aquatic safety rules, maintaining required supervision ratios, providing immediate assistance during emergencies, and ensuring continuous monitoring in and around aquatic areas This participation is mandatory and essential for camper safety. </li><li>Junior Camp Counselors are required to actively participate in all skating activities. Participation is mandatory to ensure direct supervision, assist campers as needed, promptly respond to falls or injuries, and enforce all skating safety rules to minimize risk of harm. </li><li>Junior Camp Counselors are required to actively participate in all camp activities related to the end-of-season production, including rehearsals and the final performance. Participation is mandatory to ensure appropriate supervision, camper safety, engagement, and the successful execution of the program. </li><li>Junior Camp Counselors will assist Senior Camp Counselors with the implementation and enforcement of all safety procedures and precautions at every site and during all activities. </li><li>Junior Camp Counselors will be required to follow all agency policies, procedures, safety protocols, and mandatory training as directed. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications NO MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS TITLE PER CIVIL SERVICE.</p> <p>.</p> <p>Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:</p> <ul> <li>Junior Camp Counselors must be at least 18 years of age. </li><li>Junior Camp Counselors must either have experience in camping and the supervision of children or have successfully completed a training course acceptable to the permit-issuing official. Background checks will be conducted for all candidates. </li><li>Junior Camp Counselors must produce two reference letters from friends, past employers, or individuals not related to the applicant. </li><li>Junior Camp Counselors must be able to respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations and safety incidents during all activities.
