<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Support Staff/Special Education Assistant</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>1/29/2026</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>High School South Building</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>Immediately</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>Open until filled</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Notice of Support Staff Posting</p> <p>Position: Education Assistant ASD Posting # 3927</p> <ul> <li>West Ottawa South High School </li></ul> <p>Posting Dates: January 29, 2026 Until Filled</p> <p>Reports To: Principal</p> <p>Beginning: Immediately</p> <p>Hours: 35 hours per week</p> <p>Monday to Friday</p> <p>Full Time / School Year</p> <p>Job Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>?Under the direction of the building principal and/or assigned teacher, the Educational Assistant in the ASD Program will: </li><li>Provide direct instructional and behavioral support to students </li><li>Support students in ?all academic areas </li><li>Assist with the implementation of individualized education program (IEP) goals, behavior support plans, and classroom routines </li><li>Support students with social-emotional regulation, communication skills, and appropriate peer interactions </li><li>Monitor and support students during transitions throughout the school day </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Other Information:</p> <ul> <li>CPI trained or willing to be trained in CPI </li><li>Good communications/collaboration skills with staff and students </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. </li><li>Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles. </li><li>Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. </li><li>Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken work; those activities where detailed or import spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. </li><li>Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound. </li><li>Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. </li><li>The worker is subject to environmental conditions. </li><li>The worker should provide consistent and reliable in person attendance. </li></ul>
